Used for a solar oven
I bought these to make a solar oven, and I’m really impressed! The lenses are lightweight but surprisingly sturdy, and the 3X magnification works perfectly for focusing sunlight to heat up my oven. The full-page size made it easy to cover a large area, and the plastic construction means it's much safer than glass. I was able to set it up quickly, and it really helped concentrate the sun’s rays effectively. For anyone looking to enhance their solar cooking setup, this magnifier is a great, affordable choice!

Using for old 70s Flashlight!
So, I have an old 70s flashlight that uses a bent plastic lense that ended up breaking. I had an old one of these that was scratched up that had been passed down to me ages ago, and it worked even better so I knew i had to jump onto finding new ones. This worked perfectly. It only needed a slighty bit of trimming to fit, now the thing gives off like unlike ever before! The second one I use more for its actual use as a magnifier, and am curious how it might work if used in a solar cooker!Well made, sturdy plastic with good flexibility

Excellent clarity, but thin
The two Fresnel lenses received arrived in a clear plastic wrapper and were pristine with no scratches. Those who complained that the lenses couldn't magnify when placed directly on a book or newspaper page clearly don't understand the laws of optics. All magnifying lenses have a positive focal length. Placing the lens directly on top of the page to be magnified would require a focal length of near zero. Such a lens does not exist. The description on Amazon clearly states a 300 ml focal length (just under 12"). To achieve maximum magnification, the lens needs to be positioned about a foot above the page. The only downside to the lens is its thickness (less than half a millimeter). If used for reading, taping the edges to a cardboard frame should work fine.
