The Nikon COOLPIX P530 camera having a 42X zoom without barrel distortion (unlike it's cousin P610), takes great quality photos, numerous useful functions such as 21 screen settings, manual focus option, and other easy to use functions. This camera can cater to either the novice (who feels comfortable with camera menus) to the advanced. , Image stability is excellent and at max zoom works well if one is not too shaky. Besides the essentials such as an external memory card and spare battery, they include a fairly decent camera bag by Vivitar, two tripods (one that is small enough to carry in their supplied camera bag) and the other one light weight that can be stored in a backpack. Although I would have preferred a camera bag that had a belt clip and an external battery charger - I am still exceptionally pleased as the estimated worth of this bundle must be over $55 worth of useful accessories.

We bought this camera for our up and coming trip to Alaska. We liked the zoom range since many of our photos will be long range of animals. We practiced with the camera before the trip and were satisfied with it. While on the trip other conditions and situations raised that didn't happen during our practicing that really made this an average camera.Pros- Not a bad camera for the price if you get it on sale. Zoom was good even when you went into the digital zoom mode. Probably good enough for your everyday picture taking ,i.e., children plays, graduations, wedding, where you have the time to pose the people and adjust your settings.Cons - In movie mode it has a hard time staying focus. Zooming in/out doesn't correct this problem. Turning the movie off to snap shot then back to movie camera does. By this time what you wanted to record is gone. In snap shot, some modes that to long to be saved to memory card, even if you have the high speed memory in it. Even though it has digital stabilizing when you were zooming in to the 42X focus at time was blurry. when using on a boat as it pitch and rolled it was hard to find your subject on the display, we switch to the view finder and had better results. At times your picture will show a fog/haze i.e., like mountains. Not sure what was causing this, backlighting? Flash (to far of a picture you make a difference any way), ? I know it wasn't smog or fog.Bottom line - the next generation may fix some of the problems with this generation but at a cost. As I stated in the Pros, for most of your pictures it will be okay. May want to buy a better camera though if you are spending $10,000 on a once in a lifetime trip.

the only thing I don't like is the battery seems to go down quicker than my previous camera that used AA batteries. Otherwise, can't complain as the pictures come out good and all of the accessories are great.

I sent the camera back because it did not come with an instruction manual and to print the online version would have been 226 pages!! I called Nikon and was told they have gone "green" and would not be sending me an instruction booklet.

Not a happy camper with this Nikon. I had the P520 before this.So much better then this crap. All reviews gave it 4 stars.First camera went into lens lock making it unusable.Received a replacement and right away zoom was lagging and takes forever to focus.Once again received no software. Camera seems confused as to what to focus on. I took 30 test shots in several modes and only 5 came out clear.Not a novice.

I absolutely love this camera! The zoom is phenomenal and the battery last a really long time. The review your photos are clear even on the camera. I was surprised how wonderful this camera was for the price. It is easy to use and takes fabulous pictures.I highly recommend.

I'm already loving the quality of this camera. I'm still learning what it can do, but I love the fact that I can go into manual mode to be able to make my own decisions on how I'd like my pictures to look. I'd recommend this product. I'd also recommend the company that I purchased this from. One of my items spilled in the package and they replaced it right away. I truly appreciated their customer service!

I was looking for a camera for family vacation and wanted something more than just my phone camera. I wanted something easy to use yet could still give me quality photos. This camera was just what I was looking for!! Getting it within 3 days of ordering was great as well....I am sure there are better cameras out there,but if you are looking for nice photos and ease of use, you should look into the Nikon cool pix P530
