Can the bass noise on these be turned off?

No. The description clearly states "Heavy Deep Bass". I use mine with my Ipod, Ipad and when I'm playing along with my computer on my drums. If you have them connected to a tuner, you can adjust the bass and treble leavel. I don't think that the bass response is that over the top.

Are these truly noise-isolating? Am looking for a great option to use with white noise app to sleep on plane, blocking out conversation.

I love these ear-phones; I used to buy only Bose for $100. Noise blocking - not so much. I wouldn't recommend them for that use, unless they were turned way the hell up.

Probably the only alternative for Sony xb90ex.

You dont just listen to it, you feel it. 1.8 Hz !😯 are you kidding me?.Only Vmoda Zn and sony Xb90ex had such low frequency tuned and they come at their costs. The last time I heared a Bass like this was on my Sony xb90ex, which obviously was the Legend in xb category, if you know what i mean. They dont muffle any Mid or high at all ....*****Headache Warning*****
