The CHT410 hedge trimmer is reliable, lightweight and will run just as long as a tank of gas. It's perfectly balanced and features an instant trigger start, high-energy power cell, fixed/double sided reciprocating blade and a flexible soft-grip handle. CORE Outdoor Power has designed and continues to develop a revolutionary new motor technology called Conductor Optimized Rotary Energy (CORE) specifically for use in its new line of "Gasless" emission-free outdoor power equipment. CORE air-cooled motors are extremely light weight and have the ability to produce as much power as two-cycle gas engines currently used for a variety of professional and consumer outdoor power equipment products. With the highest energy factor per weight of any existing motor or engine and one-third to one-fifth the size and use of raw materials. CORE Technology is designed to replace existing conventional motion devices, motors and engines. This lightweight, long life, virtually maintenance free CHT410 hedge trimmer will retail at a price comparable with high quality commercial gasoline hedge trimmers on the market today. In addition, it has a 5-year residential warranty and a 2-year commercial warranty.

Good performance, slightly large and unweildy
Good blade length and easy to use for low trimming and anything vertical up to around head height. But it is a bit on the heavy side which makes it difficult to use above your head or anywhere you need to use an extended reach. A bit too much of a strain to use single handed. The trigger mechanism is a bit complex, I would have preferred it if operated just the same as a line trimmer. I also wonder if it could be better balanced if the battery and motor unit were integrated into a single housing closer to the blade, it seems like some compromises have been made so that common parts (handle/trigger, battery housing etc.) can be used on both this hedge trimmer and their line trimmer.I did find it quite noisy, especially for constant use & trimming large hedges I think I would prefer to use ear plugs which is not something I would expect to have to do with electric equipment. I lubricated the blade and it seemed a bit quieter and the blade moves easier, but I think the nature of the blade mechanism means that any hedge trimmer is going to produce a certain level of noise. The battery life for me hasn't been anywhere near 90 minutes. That's not to say that the battery life is bad - I doubt there are any similar battery powered hedge trimmers that could come close, but you've gotta have reasonable expectations. I found that I get about 45-60 minutes as I work on a hedge. (Note that is work time including moving around the hedges or up and down ladders etc., not constant run time.)But overall I'd say it's a great bit of gear, definitely nothing else comes close to it's performance if you want a battery operated hedge trimmer (unless you spend BIG money on a backback battery, corded hedge trimmer, but that is in a completely different league). Being able to work without a cord definitely has it's benefits and it's great if you also use the Core line trimmer because the batteries are interchangeable. And of course the greatest thing is that there's no need to mess around with fuel and engine maintenance, zero emissions helps keep the operator happy and healthy.I also have to mention that the tech support from Core Outdoor Power is top notch! My trimmer arrived with the handle detached from the motor unit (thanks to rough handling by international customs) but with help from Core support I put it all back together and it's going fine.

Everything as it should be
What's not to like? It's gasless, as powerful as a gas trimmer, not very loud and has more than enough juice to do my yard. I've used it twice for prolonged periods and have not had to recharge yet. My only suggestion would be to better balance the trimmer towards the middle. Great product.

LOUD
Feels heavier than stated weight, not particularly well balanced, somewhat awkward to use. No switch to lock on so you have to hold the switch down the entire time while trimming, this can be difficult as you maneuver the machine around to different angles. My old Homelite chainsaw is much easier to handle and much better balanced! But my main complaint and the reason I returned it is its LOUD! I've never heard a louder electric device (other than a boom box). I called the company to see if this was normal. To use it more than a few minutes you'd definitely want hearing protection. They couldn't get a product rep on the phone to talk to me. They took my number but never called me back.It does seem very powerful and well made. Being that its made in the US I wanted to like it....but sent it back disappointed.

It seems like a very powerful machine but not a fan of ...
I found this Hedge Trimmer to have an awkward and complicated starting switch; heavy for one-handed operation to reach out for trimming something a little out of reach, hard on my back for low cuttings such as ornamental grasses, bogging of power on thick grasses. It seems like a very powerful machine but not a fan of its design. Recommended for strong upper body strength and big hands to hold down the switches while working so as not to lose power.
