The best
Best book I've ever read on running in general. Not just for older runners. Every kid who runs should read it also. Pay particular attention to the footwear chapter but all of it is excellent. Helped me run my first 50 mile trail race and now training for a 100 mile ultra and I don't even really like running lol.

Good natural running technique = best performance
I loved how the book explains in great detail the root causes of most running injuries: overstride and poor technique caused by certain shoes. Even more important, the book provides lots of useful tips on how to develop good running technique based on natural human biomechanics. What makes this book an absolute game changer is the access it provides to video tutorials on it's website and a private Facebook group that allows for q&a with the author and free assessment of your running stride. Also, the author is a minimalist/barefoot runner just like me. So his professional advice is golden to an amateur like me.

A must have resource for new and experienced runners
This book is great for runners of any age or ability. The authors break down the steps in a very clear and easy to follow manor with helpful pictures to guide you on your way. There’s even access to videos and an unbelievable helpful Facebook group so you’ll never feel like you’re charting new territory on your own. The older yet faster method is really the body’s natural way of running. If running used to cause you pain this will help guide you out of that. Half the book focuses on running who what why when how and they other half is a gem on strength exercises and recovery if you’re coming from injury. My feet are so much happier and stronger because of this book. I can’t recommend it enough.

Great tome of Info
This is the book that really started my "barefoot" running journey. After reading 'Born to Run' of course hahaI do think the authors explain and dissect all the aspects of running natural style. The exercises and stretches are the best thing about the book.My only issue is after joining the FB group I do find the dogmatic approach to the practice somewhat dangerous. I find it hard to believe that everyone on the planet- regardless of age, ability and build can move into paper thin shoes right away and expect to be running in them. They do warn it can take years-Im on year 2... But the general dismay of any sort of transitional shoes seems odd. Especially from a platform of online advice with no direct supervision . There are options for lightweight, xero drop shoes with more padding these days.main takeaway- It does take TIME. You cannot rush recalibrating your muscles and tendons. It can be so exciting at first but the key is to stay injury free.

Best tool ever and appropriate for literally any kind of runner (beginner or competitive)
I am just beginning but have already improved (I haven’t run in several years and had basically given up until I got this book recommendation). I had tried minimalist running only to find bad advice on all the minimalist running forums (with the exception of this book recommendation). The authors know what they are taking about and you can get their advice on your personal form by sending them a video through the private Facebook group (which you will have access to once you get the book). Buy it. You won’t be sorry in the least. I’ve never said that about any book ever.

Some Differing Opinions
There are a lot of books about running, many of which offer opinions on technique but few (that I have seen to date) that offer method/technique instructional lessons. Having previously worked through the book "The Running Revolution" it will be the book that I continue to recomend to others as a running technique instructional book. "Older Yet Faster" does indeed contain some useful information, but some of the opinions expressed on running form and mechanics run counter to things that I learned and am in agreement with from "The Running Revolution". If you are one who is interested in running better, your opinion on how to do it best may differ from mine. Read and do the lessons in both books mentionrd in this review and you will have two points of view from which to draw your conclusions.

The best book on pain reduction I've ever read
Excellent text with simple and applicable evaluations and exercises to balance stance and posture for more efficient and painless running. Less pain equals improved performance. Thank you

Puts everything together to allow you to run properly.
I, like most people, have been a heel striker for all my life. Through sore quads, knees, and hips, the problem really came down to landing with my heel out in front (overstriding) and weak gluteus medius. Even with strengthening the glutes, you need to incorporate changes into your mechanics. This book puts it all together.

Laufen statt Bremsen

A Running Bible!
This is one of the most extensive running technique books I’ve read. Initially I bought it as a gift, then kept it! The authors Keith and Heidi are an educated team with complimentary backgrounds. It isn’t a reference text, but has lots of useful clearly explained information to better one’s running. Everything is covered - technique, biomechanics, exercises - all easy to understand, because running should be simple and enjoyable. There is also a website, in conjunction with the info in the book, it is definitely worth checking out too, as it backs up various lessons in video format. For those on Facebook there is a OYF readers’ group where Keith is super helpful, whether in answering questions, or giving feedback on people’s gait. In short, whatever distance you run, you most certainly would benefit from owning this book!
