Incredibly quiet exhaust fan that moves a lot of air.
As of now, I have installed 2 of these fans in my garage. With attic access, installation was a non-event. If you don't have access to an attic space, they will be more difficult to install and you'll probably need to do some sheetrock work after. Not a big deal, just be aware.Anyway, they are considerably more quiet compared to any of the other 5 fans that are inside the house. The build quality is what I consider very good with thicker gauge steel. The fans are generally used for maintaining temperatures to ambient and exhausting fumes. One thing I noticed was some backpressure after connecting the 8 inch duct to the wall vents. That's not the fans, but the vents causing the issue. Not sure what to do about that as I purchased the largest wall vents I could find. When I had the fans just blowing up into the attic space, the garage door pulled in hard. Great fans.

Best Bathroom Fan I've Ever Owned!
The media could not be loaded. I've had these fans in my bathrooms since 2007 and they're about the best bathroom fan any residence can have. VERY QUIET AND POWERFUL! I actually bring people into the bathroom, close the door, and show them the power of this fan. I do this by dropping a piece of tissue on the ground next to the door and it moves on the floor a few feet in the direction of the fan. I'm an appraiser and I don't remember ever seeing this fan in any bathroom I've ever appraised, but I've certainly told many people about it. I had someone install it years ago, and when one finally gave out recently, I bought the same model, easily removed the fan assembly and foam insulation (along the sides and top of the outer housing) from inside the old unit and placed the new foam and fan assembly inside the old outer housing. In about 20 minutes my new fan was up and running. Whisper quiet. My wife and I had to pause a second to make sure it was on. Excellent product Broan!

Not for retrofit. .but a great fan
This fan pulls plenty of air..you will hear it.3.0 sones..i expected that..i replaced my old fan but the grill cover will not cover the mounting flanges..its designed for new construction only..so u would either need to do drywall work or find a larger cover. No big deal..what i didn't like is when the adjustable flange mounts are all the way up thr fan housing stands below the drywall by about 3/16..its not flush with the housing. so now u have a small gap between the ceiling and the grill cover...unless u want to widen the adjustable slots for the mounts..like i said its definitely not for a retrofit but im keeping it anyway .Not sure why no one mentiond this..if u want a great fan for a replacement go with a Panasonic. .they nailed it with thier unique install mounting set up..i think its called flex fast ez mount..but overall the broan is a great fan u just will need to do some extra work...it does read in instructions that you can install in old work but you will need attic access and you must build a header support for one or both sides..and probably a second person...BUT do not undersize the exhaust hose..it must be 8 inch minimum! ..otherwise u will have noise and vibration from the back pressure. .and if u want an easy custom grill to cover the mounting brackets..go to Lowe's and get a 14×14 return air grill (15.75 OUTER DIAMETER SQUARE )..screw and mount on center with the fan housing and caulk the 3/16 gap..if u want a factory look..liquid nail a strong magnet in center pocket of fan grille and stick over the return grill..no problems..only solutions👍

Lots of air,really quiet
I never write reviews, but this ventilation fan is really great. Does not sound like it is doing much but if I go outside where the exhaust exits my house the volume of air is amazing. I installed it over my indoor hot tub. I recommend the speed control that Broan offers to go with this. When you only need 1/2 the air flow it is nearly silent. Great job Broan.

Best vent fan I've owned
This machine is noisy but extremely effective. Thanks to my preference for extremely hot showers, our master bathroom would constantly steam up and drip condensation down the walls. I tried other, more expensive vent fans, including a pair that had lights built in. While much quieter, they did a horrendous job of actually removing the steam from my bathroom. This machine works very well and removes the steamy air as fats as it accumulates. It needs larger ducting, and it noisy but if condensation is a problem, this vent fan is for you.

Big Quiet Exhaust Fan
Purchased L300 model to replace older exhaust blower fan in garage. Florida gets warm, exhaust fan makes the garage bearable. Very Quiet. Did I mention that it is very quiet? Squirrel cage blower is the reason for being quiet. Old loud plastic fan blower had stopped running, it was tired after 15 years of almost continuous use. The L300 is about a 12"x12" metal box, it is heavy duty. The fan was easy to change location of the support attach brackets. Deceptive as it gets much larger and heavier when you are standing at the top of a 8' ladder screwing it to the rafters in the garage. Also attached an 8" elbow to exhaust air directly into roof vents. Been running now for about a month and half, sometimes have to go over to switch box to see if it is on. Yeah, I like it. It was worth the extra bucks.

Great high volume fan and almost silent
This is a fantastic and high quality fan if you want to love a lot of air and do it quietly. I installed this in my pool house storage room which has no AC but houses two beverage fridges and an ice maker. Those put out some heat so I needed to find a way of cooling the room. This did it. It’s super quiet and simply works at a much higher volume than other bathroom type ceiling exhaust. It is designed to be installed from up top in existing construction if not installing during construction. It can be done from underneath but will require adding a 2x4 for framing and then cosmetic work for the drywall. Not hard if you are handy and used to this but it is more work than others.
