my new favorite pencil
I have tried the tombow zoom 505 and the pentel sharp kerry, and this is my favorite. The body feels great in your hand because it is brushed, and the grip section is about the right size. I didn't expect it to be comfortable, but it is. The top of it is a nice shape, it feels nice against the skin between the thumb and forefinger. The clicking action is nice and crisp, there is no slop, and has a nice travel length. The sprung pocket clip is nice, it grips onto clothes nicely, without being too difficult to attach. It is also durable, it has been in a pocket with some other sharp pencils (oops), and all it got were a few shine marks (most pencils get scratched, but this one gets shinier). It looks very classy, and comes in a very nice case. The only thing I don't like about it is that the lead extends too much per click, so it breaks easily until you get used to it; now that I have gotten used to it, the lead almost never breaks. All in all, it is a great pencil, and well worth the money.

Great Design. Feels Good.
I have been using Lamys for about 13 years now and have found them to be superior to all other brands. The 2000 feels really good. It is not really heavy, but is substantial. The body is made of a special plastic that is reinforced with fiberglass. Because of this unique body, it feels different than any other pencil. The body has a textured feel that is really nice. I prefer this pencil to any other that lamy makes. I have 6 or 7 lamy pens, but this is the only pencil I need. Rotring makes some decent ones, but they just don't feel as good to me, and Lamy is just generally good about making good, simple and (I think) the sharpest looking pens/pencils.Also, every Lamy has a lifetime warranty. Send it back, pay postage, and it's fixed. However, I think the only risk you have is loosing it. These are built well.

Great pen, two problems
First of all, as the other reviews mentioned this pencil (just likes its fountain pen counterpart) feels extremely nice in the hand and has great balance. The makrolon material that this is made of feels like wood and does not scratch at all. You could drop this pencil and it would still function properly. Two problems I had with this pencil:1) The top of the pencil (the part you push to advance the lead) felt loose and rattled around as I was writing. This disturbed me so much that I took advantage of Amazon's amazing replacement policy and got it replaced. I'm now awaiting the new one.2) The clip is wobbly as well. You can move it around quite easily with your finger. This is not as noticeable as the previous problem but still mention-worthy.However, don't let these downfalls deter you from a purchase! This pencil is well worth the price and will probably outlast all your other pencils / pens.

You get what you pay for
This pencil is very comfortable to hold--it's lightweight with a brushed texture that feels right in your hand. The pencil comes with a bunch of lead already in it. The clip is sturdy yet flexible enough to clip and unclip without hassle. The eraser it comes with is very tiny so using a separate eraser is imperative to using this pencil. Otherwise, it feels like Heaven to write with. Though understandably most would be hesitant to lay down 50 bucks for a pencil, not a single dollar would be wasted on this product.

Teutonic Excellence in the details
Excellent pencil. The size & weight are great for carry, the pencil looks better in real life than most internet images of it. The feel is very ergonomic. What I like most is the precision of this pencil. The pencil mechanism is mostly metal, which fits very precisely into the tip of the body (not as smooth & soft as Lamy Safari, which is plastic, but if you like real clicking -- you'll get it on this Lamy 2000)...the pencil actually unscrews about an inch back from the large metallic tip, and is so closely fitted to the body, it's amazing. The German engineering of this pencil is impressive. Also, the clip is very strong, and has a spring hinge with strong clip force...The only bad points are that it came with lead that broke easily. Some Pentel HP Super fixed that right away...Also, the clip's edges are very sharp 90 degree edges...a little too sharp for my taste.

Best pencil ever
I used to have it few years ago. Its the most balanced pencil I've ever had, and I got to try a few. The weight is just right, the lead doesn't break, good eraser the feel of the makrolon is the best. The whole 2000 series is awesome but the roller and pencil are the best.

Lamy makes great products at the right price
I have three Lamy pens or pencils. Keep the other so called prestige brands. Lamy is made of metal not plastic. It is well designed and you are not paying for a blob of white paint at the top. All of that said and done. They have one minor flaw which they share in the pencil area. You must keep the barrel clean but they give you a ram rod for that and if it dropped the wrong way somehow you must immediately clear the barrel or it jams. Don't know why but this happens. The order was fulfilled as promised and I am very happy with this seller. The price was fair and reasonable. The price for a Lamy is all over the place. If you bought it a mom and pop store it is higher but the advantage is you had to chance to touch and test. So once you know you like Lamy this is a great place to buy.

Works well and looks great
I have the LAMY fountain pen and really like its style and functionality. The pencil is a natural and pleasing partner that is comfortable to use and as with the pen, very attractive.

Amazing product. Perfect writing machine. Impeccable German workmanship. Highly recommended.
This has got to be one of the best investments if you like good writing. As they say, you're only as good as your tools and this is one of the best in the world... no questions asked. If you look at the workmanship and quality engineering you can see why people drool over German products. The pencil is seamless and feels great in your hand. I feel I could write forever holding this in my hands. Its perfectly balanced and the shape is extremely suited for an exceptional grip for the human hand.In terms of functionality, the clip is detachable and the half inch eraser in the back has a cleaning needle attached to its base, just in case there is a jam in the nozzle. The main holder opens up easily and closes again without any seams. The plastic part doesn't feel plastic and is not slippery. The material and the finish ensure a fast hold even if you tend to sweat a lot.All in all, an excellent product. I love this pencil and recommend it wholeheartedly for everyone who loves to write and appreciates quality products.

Buy from Global Store at your own risk!
Beware before buying such expensive product. I have so far ordered 2 Lamy mechanical pencils to my house in Delhi. The Lamy 2000 is imported from USA. The one that I received had dust on it, and its clip (used in keeping the pencil stable in a pocket) is very lose. Clearly it was not new and was used as a display pen. Maybe that's what the retailer abroad does considering there's a fat chance we would ask for a replacement and pay for customs twice. BTW I'm not the first person to receive a product that was used as a display, I've read similar comments for such luxury items. Lamy 2000 Mechanical Pencil with Brushed SS Clip Edit: I changed the rating from 1 to 2 star considering the beautiful weight balance of the pen. Also the material used is very classy and well textured. Pretty sure the pen will last years and maybe a decade. At least my mechanism is fine. Lamy 2000 Mechanical Pencil with Brushed SS Clip
