Best value
Before I bought it, I read the reviews. But I cannot confirm the complaint about panel quality. Perhaps that observed phenomenon is related to the typical property of an IPS display. It has a high contrast (horizontal and vertical) except the corners. But if your sitting very close to the display then you may see the fading on the corners.Well I've bought several IPS monitors from DELL in the past and I got never disappointed. So it was this time.- Very fast delivery!- Zero Pixel failure.- The vivid colors are stable over a wide viewing range.- Bright display with good contrast and an even light distribution.- Runs very cool.Only one thing is missing for calling it perfect: The gamma value cannot be manipulated in the setup of the monitor. It has to be done in the display settings of the attached computer.Personally I think it is the monitor with the best value. Sure, I recommend it!

Cheap and clear screen with defect
Screen is great and large. Price is right. but if you leave static image for very short amount of time, it leaves mark on the screen.I've watched a 5 minutes video which has logo at the bottom and noticed ghost image on the screen. It goes away after couple of hours but 5 minutes play and 2 hours recovery is not good.

You will be disappointed -- keep searching
I am not one of those people who knows all there is to know about ICC profiles and gamma correction, etc. I just know when a monitor is bugging my eyes like crazy, and looks "off" in about every way. I got this monitor delivered to work and played with the settings all day yesterday. I also looked at what settings others had said were apparently good, and tried those. I started to doubt my eyes. But after I got home and looked at the other 27" monitor I have there (different brand -- you can find my review on that one if you're interested), it was immediately apparently that it was not in my head. This one is maybe half as good, and it was actually $20 more expensive than the other one. The bottom line is this: there are MUCH better monitors out there for the same price (cheaper, in fact). And, if you've ever seen a Dell monitor that looked "off" and just couldn't be dialed in, this one is exactly like that -- just bigger. I wish it wasn't true, but it is, at least for the one I got. I have returned it (that part went flawlessly -- thank you Amazon), and am going with a slightly different model from the same brand I have at home (different only because I need VESA mounts for work, and that one only has a stand).

Good and bad
I have only had these a few months. They are sturdy, good color and can be angled and adjusted on a desk with great ease. Turning your screen to show someone something is easy with this monitor. You can also rotate them 90º and use them for tall spreadsheets or for coding. Great functionality. However, I should have paid attention to the resolution. Not happy with such a low resolution for such a big monitor. I will make the best of it, but wish I had looked better and then picked a different monitor for my main display with a higher resolution and used this as a secondary with the rotating option.

Fairly happy.
This monitor is beautiful. Colors are vibrant and realistic. This monitor needed almost no adjustment from stock. I grabbed an ICC profile from a certain professional review site based in the UK and set custom color of 100/98/98, and everything looks perfect. The contrast ratio is high, around 1,100 native according to that same review site. Blacks are deep for this type of panel, which makes colors look even more strong. Motion is smooth and there is no ghosting. There is a touch of glow in the corners, which is normal for IPS/PLS monitors. It isn't very strong, however, and is only visible when you're watching dark scenes or playing dark games. The first monitor I received does have a slight backlight bleed in the bottom left hand corner that can mess with colors and black depth when the monitor isn't angled right. I've since figured out how to position it ideally and it doesn't bother me. It's almost impossible to spot unless you're looking for it on a full black screen. The replacement I ordered was much worse, so I returned it and kept the original.I'd advise anyone that orders one of these monitors (or any IPS/PLS monitor, given my experience with a few other monitors) to fill an image in Microsoft Paint with black, then full screen it so that the entire screen is fully black. If you see heavy glow anywhere, move your head so that you're viewing the area dead on, not at an angle. If the glow goes away, it's just glow. If, however, some of it lingers, there's a backlight bleed there, and you have a decision to make - throw the dice and request a replacement, or give it a shot and see if you can live with it.This will only really be an issue if you use your monitor to play dark games (Dead Space, Metro) or watch movies on your PC. It might be problematic for people doing graphics work, too, but I'd imagine they'd know how to work around it. Regardless, if you're a gamer or want to watch movies on your computer, I'd check your screen for backlight bleeds first thing before getting too settled into it. IPS/PLS monitors seem to have a real problem with it because even a tiny backlight bleed causes heavy additional glow. That said, if you can get one of these that looks right, it's a great monitor. I'm fairly happy with mine. It's awesome in games. The only mark against it is the backlight bleed.
