Amazing for giving shades for leaves the blue / green pigment .rich pigment ! amazing shades it this set !!!!!LAYERS / amazing !I can layer with different products - like cheap pastel for 10 $ a set for kids . And layers look great !!!I paint with oil colors - for me , grading and layering is very important ( i find it beautiful )This pastel is great for that !I just bought another brand for 6 $ a stick ! and got so disappointed was about to give up .I also tried it on pastel paper , sanded and unsanded . u see pics of others trying it . But personally love working with reg sketch paper with fibers. U can layer without seeing that base under. and use less product .I just ordered another set and will get other colors ! Thank u

The media could not be loaded. Wife says: Would be wonderful for beginners, spare the new artist the suffering of working with poor student quality, just splurge for something nice to start a good collection. This was good value for the money paid. These are not really half sticks, they are squat wider sticks, as the softness of these high end pastels need to be in this shape. Bought neutrals for cloud scapes. There is a large variety of warm to cool greys, greens, earth tone, blues and lavender. These are super smooth, pigment rich. They blend easily and lay down a lot of colour. I really enjoy using them. I have been a artist my entire life, and I am a retired professional painter.

Great pastels!
I have been wanting to try this brand for a while! These were every bit as good as all the things I hear artists say about them. They are not too hard or soft, but have a nice buttery feel. They are softer than Rembrandts. The colors in this set are so great and complement darker colors well. I definitely want more colors in the Richeson sets!

Great selection of colors
I bought 3 sets of these - neutral, brown & grey. I'm delighted with the size of the pastel sticks, the colors & ease of handling. A couple students in my pastel class saw mine ordered them for themselves. A worthwhile addition to my pastel collection.

Beautiful and Soft
I was very excited to receive these pastels. They are soft, buttery and blend well. I have already ordered another color palette and can’t wait to start creating! I also ordered a set of Sennelier so that I can compare them.

Beautiful Set of Neutrals
These is a beautiful set of neutrals. I love Jack Richeson pastels and they are very consistent with excellent packaging with every box being delivered with no damaged pastel sticks (I own 5 different sets). I would prefer the sticks to not have paper wrapping on each one but it's fairly easy to remove them with a small scissor. However, the wrap does provide the replacement number and toxicity of each color.

very useful colors
Any painter needs bright clean colors, but also complicated grayish muted colors are very important as they compliment bright ones and let them shine. This little set has a good quality and a great selections of nice colors.

Nice
Nice, but i shoulda gone for the more full set of neutrals- pastels are really soft, lay down color excellently- and look really nice and set off more saturated colors when juxtaposed-
