ASICS Men's Gel-Excite 4 Running Shoe, Carbon/Silver/Black, 7 M US

My husband decided to start running marathons with me this year. I've been running them for years, and ASICS have always been my shoe of choice. Specifically, the Gel Nimbus. However, I was nervous, as he has had major reconstructive surgery done on his foot while he was in the Army, where he still has 12 screws and 2 steel plates holding his foot together. He typically experiences pain in his foot after a longer run, which is to be expected after such a traumatic event to the area. However, I dare not deter him from this new endeavor of his! So, instead I tried to set him up for success by buying him his first pair of real running shoes. He had been trying to run in Nike cross trainers previously, which I believe was the foundation for a lot of the residual pain he would have after a run. When he started running in his ASICS his face lit up. It was like he had access to a whole new world! He went on a 10 mile training run on Monday (it's currently Wednesday), and he has zero residual pain in his foot. That was the longest run he's ever been able to do!We're both so excited for this new chapter in our lives, where we can embark on this new active running and marathoning journey TOGETHER! It's all thanks to ASICS!We've since come back and bought him another pair for everyday use. I don't think he'll ever wear anything else, haha!!

I work at an Amazon fulfillment facility so I walk a lot. I walk about 10 miles a day 4 days a week. So I burn through shoes and they need to fit well and be comfortable. This is my second pair of these. My last pair lasted a little over 4 months. Which is pretty good based on my overuse. I put Dr. Scholl's work in soles in them. I recommend these a lot.

This shoe runs 1/2 size too small. I compared it to another Asics shoe in the same size and it was approx. 3/8 to 1/2 inch smaller in toe width and 1/4 inch shorter in length. I returned them and ordered the next half size and it seems more like what I expected. I usually wait to review until I get a better idea what the product performs like over time, but I thought others needed to know about the sizing issue. I will update later concerning overall quality.

I bought a pair of Gel Excite 2 back in early 2015 and it’s served me pretty well for all the 5- and 10ks I’ve worn them for over the past 2 years—and just walking in general. It was starting to show wear so I needed a 2nd pair of running shoes. Lo & behold the same line of shoes was now on 4; that is, I’m assuming there was a 3. Anyhoo, as a person with wide feet I don’t have much of a selection of footwear to begin with. I liked the Excite 2 so you can bet that for 4, I was just as excited (pun always intended). I really like the design and feel of it. It’s incredibly light to the point where I sometimes feel like I’m not wearing any shoes. Now, it is comfortable, but going back to the fact that I have wide feet, it’s a tad tight. I’ve had these shoes for almost one month and have easily put 50k+ on them so I’d like to believe they’ve been “broken into”. As others have mentioned, the size for Excite 4 is smaller than what you may expect so you would most likely have to go half a size up. For me, I was a 9.5W for Excite 2 and went with 10W for Excite 4. Length-wise it’s fine since I went up but it still would be better if it were a tad wider. I still recommend these shoes though.

A nice looking low-rise running shoe, but I found it unusually narrow/tight.I already order up a half-size for ASICS (10.5 instead of 10) which typically works fine, but in this Gel-Excite 4, the toe area and across the top of the foot was still very tight. If I forced myself to wear these shoes, the pinkie-toe side of my foot would end up bulging the outside side of the shoeI'm not sure why the variation in width and fit in ASICS. I'm going to stick to my ASICS Gel-Ventures instead, where a 10.5 Medium fits as expected. Skip the Excite unless you have narrow feet or are willing to experiment on widths.

This is my 4th pair of Asics running shoes and absolutely love them. They are light and comfortable. So comfortable it's almost like walking and running on sponges! The first pair I ever bought was at a big box sporting goods store. I fell in love with the Asics brand. I normally wear a size 9 to 9.5. The size that fit me best was the 10.5 with the Asics. Once those wore out I knew my size and have purchased every pair since on Amazon. Different models of these shoes do vary slightly in size however it's not that much. What I do if they are slightly tight is just loosen the laces and widen the opening down the top of the shoe consistently (see my photo). This works very well and I am so happy. People have written reviews mentioning sizing problems. However once you know your size in these particular shoes (or any brand for that matter) you are set to order through Amazon. If you have a wider fit make sure to order a wide size, the medium will certainly be too narrow. Another thing I really enjoy about these shoes are besides being so lightweight the mesh breaths very well. You can actually feel the airflow through them on a cool day. This helps air out your feet and prevents any odor inside the shoes. If you've never tried a pair of ASICS I highly recommend them.

Nearly 2 months ago I ordered these shoes and let me tell you something. These are awesome shoes. First of all, I'm from Venezuela, and I was on a budget. I had 100 dollars to spare and I decided to buy myself a pair of running shoes and some other stuff. I was looking at the nimbus series and kinsei series, which are both highly rated. However, they are overpriced for my budget. So after couple days of research I decided to go with this pair of shoes. I wanted something afforadable with favorable reviews. And those checked both things. Having spent $50 on these shoes, it now seems as though it was the bargain of the year. First impression out of the box? The look good, I wore for the whole day and they felt pretty good. Couple days later i went for a short run. And it felt right. However I'm not using them as running shoes anymore. I'm doing my internship at this hospital. So I'm walking around all day, carrying light, medium, and heavy boxes, going up and down the stairs, rushing to the ER and what not. I work 2 shifts and these are really amazing shoes.

The Asics gel provides great cushioning and comfort for walking or when you're at the mall. I would recommend the GT or higher if running is your main priority. Otherwise, this is great value at such a great price. Nothing beats Asics Gel...nothing!!

These are some of the most comfortable runners I have ever bought. I work on my feet all day and have found these shoes make my feet not hurt by the end of my day. I have an older pair of these shoes and I have found that they have lasted almost a year of work use. I have wide feet so I was glad to see they have extra wide options available.

...I would have liked them to have more room to fit in my orthodics. The lacing feels too tight if I try to fit them in. So I'm just using them as indoor shoes instead of running.

Good walking shoe. Sides are too soft for sports. After a month both big toes went through the top of the shoes. Top is not well made.

one shoe hurts the top of my foot and there is nothing I can do to change it ..so disapointed for the expensive price I paid!

My old shoe died on me. So I needed something to replace them. Good for walking

They are a perfect light weight shoe for running and the size was just what I ordered and fit great. Now I just have to wait until winter is over so I can go out and do some running
