Do NOT buy if you have a US System!
Product did not say that it was a UK copy of the game, therefore, I cannot play it here in the US. Went back and checked the description and no where does it say that it has the PAL label or that it will only work on UK systems. Highly disappointed.

Play it now, play it forever
I will get the two only dislikes out of my system first. One, i hate the SFX in leiu of voices, and i always turn it off. Two, I hate the terminally smug opaque character called Waka. And with that out the way, i can list the wonderful things i love love love:-The Offbeat Arty thing-The encouragement that you dont have to be a good artist to play this game.-Issun-Amaterasu Okami-That cheat one can exploit at that literal annoying puzzle wall-The colours darlings, the colours-The satisfying dig for clovers-The highly attractive Konohana Goddess-The innovative brush techniques (fave is bloom)-The very deep seated holistic spirituality-The vivid love of nature-The game's music-The coward turned hero Susano-The reiterating of the old 100 years ago story then is expanded beyond the male wolf to the female wolf who goes furtherNeed I say anymore? No? Then what are you standing around here for? Go play it!

The Greatest Game I Have Ever Played
And I am being completely serious. A wonderful mix of traditional Japanese mythology, adventure, action, humour, side quests, unique art style, unique weapons and storyline. It's a fairly long game if you want to play through every little detail, but it is definitely worth several play throughs anyway due to new items, gifts, etc... being released at the end of the games. I have played it through several times now myself and every time I find something new about it. This is a very enjoyable game and incredibly heart warming and breaking at several different points throughout. The characters and story draw you in close from the start and makes finishing it all the more bittersweet. Everyone should play this, be it if it's for wanting a great game to play, wanting to play a game for the sake of it's unique art and graphics, an appreciation of Japanese mythology, anything. After playing it, you will leave it feeling like you've achieved more than just finishing a game all the way though.

An absolute Classic! The PS2 signs off in style..............
I had a free demo of this game on the cover of a magazine and decided to give it a trial run. After playing it i decided to go and buy the full game, and i really wasn't disappointed by the quality of the game. For a start, the premise is unique. You play Amaterasu, a wolf goddess (how many games can honestly say that when describing their main character). Your mission in the game is to rid the land of Nippon of Okechi, an evil spirit that is putting a curse on the land and it's inhabitants. Throughout the adventure you have a travelling companion who is there to train you, offer advice, and generally provide the humour (and there is some really funny stuff in here, hidden away admittedly so as not to overpower the gamer) and he is a bug called Issun. The game is hard to describe in terms of it's genre, but basically it is like a platformer/puzzler in a fully 3d world with lots of missions to perform. And it won't be to everyone's taste i am sure, but for the serious gamer looking for something a bit different, this is definitely the game to buy!Throughout the game you solve puzzles and fight enemies using your celestial brush which means that you paint over the screen to achieve your goals in specific scenarios - such as making a water spout to allow you to rise up onto a high level in the mountains, drawing a bomb to blow up a hidden passage or damage an enemy, and these are just a few to mention - i don't want to spoil the game by giving all it's best features away!!As other people have said, it can be quite hard to get your head round using this system, and it does take a little bit of practice, but the game allows you to make mistakes when learning all the 13 main brush techniques. As you progress you can improve the stats of Amaterasu so that she has more health, more inkpots (trust me, you want as many of these as you can get hold of later in the game!) and you can upgrade weapons too.You can earn more 'praise' and godhood by doing side tasks such as restoring areas of the landscape and trees, or by feeding the native animals. It isn't too complicated and adds a little bit more to an already great experience.Graphically there is no game out there that has the same style as Okami - FACT! It is a stunning looking game, and you can see the amount of effort and care taken with the graphics. It is like looking at a moving painting most of the time, and some of the effects are truly impressive. One thing you cannot fault Okami on is it's style and presentation. In terms of sound, the game is pretty good too - it enhances rather than overpowers the experience.Though, as other reviewers have mentioned, the way the people 'speak' can grate after a while, though i found i could switch it off in my head and concentrate on the speech bubbles instead. The game is really playable too - it is one of those titles that is really easy to pick up, and a challenge to master. The learning curve is fantastic - it is perfect in fact. I never felt like i was thrown in at the deep end and left to fend for myself. In an age where games are judged on their length, Okami is right up there with the best of the top games. It is huge! The main game will take a really good chunk of time to complete, but if you want to try and do all the side missions you will find lots of your time drained away whilst playing this. As an example, i cleared the main mission on one area and was quite literally shocked to find that the game carried on! I reckon i had done less than 20% of the game! One thing i would recommend if you are a fanatical completist, is buying the guide. It shows all the side missions and is one of the best guides out there - it has had real care and attention paid to it.And there you have it!I would put this game in my top playstation 2 games. You will not have played anything quite like this in terms of looks and gameplay. Okami is a real labour of love by the game producers and it really shows. Capcom have excelled here. You should play this if you like something completely different to the mainstream games that are available. And on another note - when you look at the PS3 line up for the next 6 months, there is nothing out there that is anywhere near as good as this. Okami shows the full potential of the PS2 - you can almost hear the console struggling to cope with the amount of things it has to do to play the game. The PS2 is used to it's full potential here. This is a better price, is produced to the highest standard and is longer than most games out there - what are you waiting for? Get out there and order your copy today - you won't be disappointed!

A PS2 GEN YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS
I love this game.I got this game not knowing what to expect at first, but if you own a PS2 and enjoy Legend of Zelda then this will not disappoint.Just like Zelda you explore a vast world with dungeons to explore, enemies and bosses to fight, puzzles to solve, items to buy and quests to complete. The "Celestial Brush" mechanic really helps to keep the gameplay fresh and new and allows you to control the elements around you (e.g. fire, water, wind, day, night etc.) at will and I always had fun testing a new brush stroke where I could use it.Okami has tight responsive controls, unique gameplay, an addictive flowing battle system and also an interesting (and humorous at times) story and characters.I got the game with no complaints about the sellers, this item came in the condition as expected and pictured. I got mine fairly quick and well packaged. This game is one of those rare gems that only appear every now and then and for those who are just looking for something a little different.

Slice those demons well
A very accomplished action adventure game, with great visuals. The main innovation is the Celestial Brush, which provides a way of interacting with the landscape with brushstrokes and offers much more variety in your approach to puzzles, combat and hidden areas than other similiar games. It's long enough to satisfy seasoned adventurer, without being too difficult or frustrating. Well worth it at the price.
