Beautiful Looking Rod with Excellent Build Quality, but Not Their Best BFS Rod
This is a well made, even beautiful rod. I really like the design and feel, and especially like the micro guides. The cork handle seems really nice, and the reel mount seems really high-end. However, the rod isn't very flexible/fast, so you're going to need to drop some major $ on a pretty high-end reel in order to make a castable combo for BFS. I first paired this with an Anatono Sphinx BFS reel (admittedly an inexpensive reel that was also on sale as part of the Big Spring Sale here on Amazon), and the combo is simply not castable at all until you get up into the 1/8oz lure weight and even then the distance is horrible. There's just not enough flex/action to the rod to properly load up the cast and get any kind of distance. I also own KastKing Zephyr BFS reel. This is also a relatively inexpensive reel, but I've upgraded the bearings to ceramic and really like and enjoy the performance of this reel. I tried it on this Magic L rod and got just about the same poor results as with the Anatono Sphinx BFS reel. Normally I have the KastKing Zephyr BFS reel on a 7'0" Shakespeare Ugly Stik Elite Ultralight/Fast BFS rod and get fantastic results from this combo all the way down to 1/32oz. So it's definitely the rod that is the problem since the Zephyr BFS reel works so well on a different rod. I think the rod is just too short and unflexable to be a good BFS rod. I think this rod in medium-light with a regular baitcasting reel on it using much heavier lures could be a good combo, but this rod really has no place in the BFS arena. It is a truly beautiful rod appearance wise, but that beauty just doesn't do anything to help the performance of actually fishing it, especially not BFS.All that being said, Handing is an excellent rod manufacturer with truly excellent and responsive customer support. Handing has reached out to me on several occasions to ask for feedback on their products and they have offered very helpful suggestions of their other products that would better suit my needs. If you want a truly superior BFS rod, I would recommend going with Handing's Wandering Ultralight rod, which is truly ultralight power and fast action, while still being a truly beautiful looking rod like all their others.

Excellent rod great customer service
This is an excellent rod, paired it with a 500 series reel 6 lb braid and it casts like a dream and is great for playing fish. Have caught a 20” brown 17” cutties and a bunch of 15 “ rainbows and it’s a ball playing them on this rod. High quality reel seat holds reel firmly. Really good looking too. I mostly use it out of my kayak flipping jigs and spinners but also troll small rapalas and it works great. Great sensitivity but still strong enough to play some nice fish. Also I broke the first one while fishing (my fault not a problem w the rod). I sent an email to customer service telling them what happened and asking about their replacement warranty. I got an email from them in less than a day. They asked for some info (order number etc.). They sent a replacement and I had it in less than a week. Great value great quality great customer service what else do you need.

Nice ultralight rod for the price.
I ordered the 6' ultralight spinning rod.I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this rod when i received it. The build quality is great for the price. The guides are straight and the cork is good. The rod weighs in at 2.79 oz. Which isn't too bad. I have other rods that are lighter but for the price, this is pretty good.My issue is the smaller reel seat. I couldn't mount a daiwa exceler LT 1000 without a big gap in the handle reel seat. Please see the picture. It wouldn't fit my smaller shimano reels either. The only reels i have that would fit nicely are the Piscifun carbon x 1000 and 500 size. Those reels have a smaller foot so it fit the rod without a big gap. Please see the picture again. The handle is also quite short which isn't a huge deal. This rod is designed after many JDM trout rods wich have short handles for fishing is smaller creeks and streams.I compared the handle length to a few other 6' ultralight rods i have, to show the shorter length. The first is Daiwa Presso 6 UL. Second is a Kuying Teton 6'4" SUL. Third is a daiwa 6' Trout X AT. The Handing magic handle is the shortest. On a positive side, I found this rod the be faster than most of the other ultralight rods i have. This also makes it more sensitive. I could clearly feel the hits from smaller trout as they bit my 1.5 gram jig.The rod also has a clicking reel foot lock down nut, which is a nice touch. So far this rod is a fun rod to fish. I liked it so much i bought two of themI hope they offer more lengths in the future. I would love a 6"6" version.

Raised the price.
Beautiful rod little stiffer then expected for an ultra light might have something to do with length. Great rod beautiful and sturdy. Wish they didn't jack up the price these really were great and I wanted to buy more but they raised the price so I can not recommend anymore. For the price point they are at now there is much better rods out there it's truly a shame these rods were a hidden jem.

Snapped the first time I took it out
I really thought this was going to be a great rod to pair with a very light baitcasting reel, but the first time I snagged an inline spinner on a rock it simply snapped at the widest part of the rod. I run 4lb monofilament and have never had a rod snap before the line would pop. I gave it one tug and POP! Rod gone. Unfortunately, I received the item on April 20, 2024 and did not get a chance to test it out until early June 2024 so I cannot get a refund or replacement via Amazon.Just so you know, I'm kinda a big deal in the snagging inline spinners on rocks community. I've used a wide variety of low cost to very expensive ultralight rods to stand there like a dope and do the "please give me back my $5 lure" dance and have never had a rod snap before. That was a nice side benefit of using such light line.Because of the failure of a brand-new rod under normal conditions I could never recommend this rod. In fact, I'm back to using a $7 rod I bought 20 years ago.
