The best there is for artists without an ipad pro...
Before continuing, let me start by saying that this is the first of many products ordered on Amazon that I have ever reviewed. Also, I am by no means a professional graphics artist, but merely a hobbyist who enjoys the relaxation that drawing and painting brings. That being said, I have tried and embarrassingly large number of styli (sp?) in a search to find the best. I have watched numerous youtube videos read online reviews, etc. My purpose of writing this review is to save others both the time and money if they are in this same search for a great stylus. First, just so you know, when I mention "ipad" I am referring to my Ipad Air 2. Many of you may know that this ipad has difficulty communicating with bluetooth styli due to newer energy saving technology in the screen. This, unfortunately can result in wavy diagonal lines when drawing. My absolute favorite graphics app is Procreate. I cannot brag enough about it, but that would be a whole other review. Styli I have tried in the past and had one issue or another:- Pencil by 53- Intuos Creative Stylus by Bamboo (a great stylus, but not perfect)- Various simple capacitive (large rubber nib) styli- Bamboo Finepoint 2- Adonit Jot (without the pressure sensitivity)Each of these has it's strong points, but they each were lacking in some aspect. The finepoint would be great if not for the wavy lines and the extremely slick feel on the ipad glass. The pencil by 53 had connectivity issues and would erase instead of write. The intuos is near perfect if not for the larger nib. Response in procreate for the intuos was very good however. What I liked about the Adonit Jot was the clear disc and precision. The disc solves the problem of the slick instability I experienced with the bamboo finepoint 2. It still glides over the surface very smoothly, but provides a solid base for the tip to ride on. Genius design. This is what led me to the Jot Touch 4. It has all of the characteristics I'm looking for in a great stylus:- Very precise- Great response- No wavy lines on the ipad air 2- pressure sensitivity- Very accurate without losing stabilityThis purchase has finally ended my search for the perfect stylus. I will admit, that I have not used the apple pencil as I do not have an ipad pro, but I hear it is great as well. My only complaint (which really isn't a complaint, just a preference) is that I don't find the shortcut buttons very useful. It is faster for me to make switches in Procreate rather than constantly adjust my grip to push a button on the stylus. I currently have one set to the brush, and the other to the erase funtction just in case I decide to use them. Maybe I will use them more with practice. For my smaller Ipad, this works great. Pair this stylus with the Procreate app, and the only thing limiting your drawing/painting is your own imagination.

Not bad. Well-made product. Just not quite what I need.
This product is well-made (feels solid, works well, etc.) So I don't want to come across as too negative. However, the clear plastic disk that slides on the iPad surface - I just couldn't get used to it for how I use my iPad. It *feels* flimsy. I'm afraid it will break if I use this like any other stylus. That concern may be totally invalid (like I said, the product seems well-built). But ultimately, it makes me use this stylus gingerly, and I never forget that I am not using a "standard" stylus. For me, the Pogo Connect is much better. It's possible that the Jot is more precise than the Connect (I really don't notice any difference, but that may be the case). However, the Pogo Connect is so well-designed that I completely forget I am not using a "normal" stylus. That is, I forget until I use one of the many apps that are designed to work with Pogo. Most of those apps work really well with the pressure-sensitivity, so I assume the ones that don't are showing the problems of the app developers. As the universe of apps that supports these BT4 styluses grows, you will definitely want one. If you choose the Jot, you will be getting a solid product, and I hope it meets your expectations. For me, however, Pogo Connect is the way to go.P.S. I also like that the Pogo Connect uses a single AAA battery that lasts for months. The Jot requires that you connect it to its included USB charger - although this is minor because I honestly have had no battery issues with either.

good for digital artists -- if you have the right app to pair it with.
I've had this for a couple weeks now and am using it with iPad Air. I had reaaallly mixed feelings about dropping $90 on a stylus. I'm mostly happy with it, but there are some definite caveats. First, if you're not a digital artist or a rich person, don't even bother, there are cheaper options with nearly the same functionality. Me, I'm trying to delve deeper into digital art, and wanted the pressure-sensitivity of this. iOS has a handful of pretty excellent digital illustration and painting apps at this point, so I decided to take the plunge and see what I could do with this thing.Ok, so, on the upside: It's very nicely built. Very sturdy, and I love the design of the cap, how you can screw it on the back. The magnetic USB charger is elegant and clever. The pen is reasonably comfortable to work with, and after a few hiccups, I've now got it working well for my particular purposes. The pressure-sensitivity works well with the wonderful Procreate app, and I'm happy with the combination of this device and that particular app (at least at the time of this writing). So, mission accomplished for me. I was a little worried about how this device would affect the screen physically (I do *NOT* have a screen protector) but it doesn't seem to have any negative impact. The protectors are mostly a gimmick and probably reduce the sensitivity and accuracy slightly; the glass of the iPad is built for a certain amount of abuse. So if you ask me you should be fine using this on the bare glass of the device. Just don't get too crazy, wipe down your screen after each drawing session, and you should be fine. Now, on the downside: While I like the design of the pen, the two buttons, while arguably a handy undo/redo shortcut, mostly just get in my way. I actually find it more intuitive to just hit the undo icon on the screen. I often hit the physical buttons on the pen body without meaning to, which can be annoying. That's mostly a minor issue though. Generally, your experience with this pen will depend greatly on your apps; and if it wasn't for Procreate, I think I'd feel a bit robbed. First of all, understand that the premium features of this pen only currently work with a very small handful of apps, and in some cases, not the ones I was hoping. No Adobe Ideas, no Art Rage. And some of the art apps they do support -- which I ended up purchasing at a cost for that reason alone -- are kinda blah (Inspire Pro comes to mind). It works with Sketchbook Pro which seems decent and is often recommended, but getting it paired required help from support and a workaround, and that app, though powerful, is way too laggy for my needs, at least at the time of this review. Really, getting the pen paired with the device at all was confusing. You have to enable support app-by-app, and each app is a little different. There is a little blinking light on the pen that's supposed to indicate things like when it's pairing, when it's charged, etc. -- but nothing the light does seems to match any of the indicators described in the instructions, as far as I can tell. So it's tough to even understand if the pen is on, not on, how much juice it has, etc. Procreate has an in-app indicator that will show you the charge remaining, another great thing about that app.So, bottom line: if you have an art app you really like, and it supports this stylus, and you can get it successfully paired -- you will probably be very happy. I do love using the pen, and the combination of this and Procreate has really opened up the possibilities of digital illustration for me, which I've resisted in the past. But if your art app of choice is not supported, and/or you're not an artist and pressure sensitivity isn't that important to you -- you should save about $50-70 and go with a cheaper stylus.

Fantastic stylus!!
I love this stylus. It works great with apps designed to support the technology: pressure sensitivity, palm rejection, and the best part is that it is rechargeable using a USB. I love using it for digital design as it is accurate and easy to use.

A quality tool
These might appear to be expensive at first but when you get the pen in your hand you soon realise there's a feel of quality and perfection. I've read concerns about the tip not gliding over screen protectors but my Tech Armor Tech Armor Apple iPad 4, 3 & 2 [NOT FOR NEW IPAD 5] HD Clear Screen Protector with Lifetime Replacement Warranty [2-Pack] - Retail Packaging is perfect; just remember to clean the finger marks of the screen before you use it otherwise the tip will get sticky and want cleaning as well. The plastic box it comes in could be useful for storing the pen particularly as it contains the instructions/guides and spare tip, however the lid doesn't grip to the base so there's something to improve on.The pen grips securely in the magnetic USB charging socket; just remember it's magnetic when you put fragile devices/data storage near it. Not had a problem yet but who knows?I bought mine because I really wanted the iPad for doodling and sketching and a couple of respected graphic Apps include automatic recognition of the Adonit Jot Touch 4.0 Stylus. This made the choice of stylus easy and so far I've enjoyed using it.They say a good craftsman should never blame their tools but I have one niggle about this pen that could easily be fixed. When a novice to this product (such as myself) first uses it they have absolutely no idea how much pressure needs to be applied to the tip to get the variable pressure to work.It doesn't take much as I soon discovered after working out how to get this function to work in Inspire Pro.The sensitivity is remarkably good and effective; just keep the surface and tip clean and it glides across the surface. Finally, I have to say that when I first got the pen I misread their website warning about the pen not working with iOS 7 and reacted angrily to the service team thinking I had wasted my time buying it. They replied immediately explaining how I had misread the notice and pointed out that the message referred to the original model, not the Touch 4.0 that I had bought. They are certainly on the ball with their customer support and seemingly willing to help with any issues. In which case I' have every confidence in giving their product a 5 star rating.Wish I could say the same about my artist skills.
