Misrepresented drives. Use caution
Time will tell, of course. I should have paid closer attention to the reviews. Apparently these are VERY old drives. Not like that is a big deal of itself, but they are also somewhat misrepresented. They are manufactured by Seagate but they are Dell branded and to warranty it via the 'seller'... yeah. Good luck with that.I bought 2, but since these were going in my NAS to replace 2 SMART failing drives... I think I'll put them somewhere less critical and purchase newer and manufacturer warrantied drives. That said, it's unlikely there's anything fundamentally wrong with these drives as they were still sealed. I just take issue with the DOM being 2011, they are Dell branded (I have a long standing partially irrational grudge against Dell plus I know the games that happen behind the scenes with OEM branded crap) and seller is warrantying them. They should have called it just like it is and said "These are NOS (New Old Stock) drives. If you get a bad one we'll replace it within 3 years of purchase" but the misrepresentation makes me question the company's character.2 stars simply because of the company, not because of the drives themselves. Doing shady things like this shouldn't be rewarded but I can't fault the drives just yet. If one fails within the 3 year period and they don't handle it, then that will clearly change.

Reliable HDD for RAID, and seller is excellent!
I purchased 4 of these drives 2 years and 10 months ago. My RAID supports 6 PCs in a multimedia environment which is used daily, so for a personal RAID, it does get a workout daily. It has been up ever since with out error until just a few weeks ago when one of the drives started failing with IO errors. I contacted this seller, and they shipped me a replacement right away! I was so impressed with their customer service that I purchased another Seagate Constellation ES ST2000NM0011 2TB drive today as a spare. I used WD RED drives in the past, and they did not come close to the lifespan or performance these Seagate drives are giving me. Very happy with the drive, AND the seller! I recommend both!!!

Easy to use as internal or external drive
works fine - the unit I got, I hooked to a USB 3.0 port via one of those External Cable Adapter kits that provide a data connector and power supply for the device. The PC is vintage 2009 so it didn't have 3.0 ports in the Motherboard - but I got an inexpensive card which plugs into a PCI-Express slot on the Motherboard, that supplied two 3.0 ports to plug into on the back of the PC. All these components, the External Cable Adapter kits and cards which hook into a PCIe slot on an older Motherboard, are inexpensive parts you can easily find on eBay or Amazon. Another option is to buy an external case into which you insert this SATA Hard Drive, that accepts a male cable power connector and a male USB 3.0 connector. These external cases also come with a Power Supply and cable connector to hook the power into the case. Easy to get any of these units online.

lettting it mark bad sectors, and let it get back into the ...
I have to give it the lowest rating because 2.5 months in, im checking on my ZFS RaidZ2 status and this drive has things in a degraded status to too many sector errors. The red flag started day one when i notice the huge head flying hours number, right now,, @1943 power on hours (2.5 months), the head flying hours say 24276501243530. Since thats the raw value, i thought it must be something I just dont know how to convert, but not im getting a failure, and need to return/exchange it, however Amazons exchange policy for this drive ended 15 days ago, which i guess is 60 days return. So, what do to? I will probably zero-fill the entire drive, lettting it mark bad sectors, and let it get back into the raid array, to give it another chance I guess. If it fails again, im going to be pretty ticked, because its alot of work in my setup to zfs replace a drive.

Good drive at a better than average price.
I was running out of space on my media server and this was priced right. The server runs 24/7, so an enterprise drive is a perfect fit. The description said cut label, but it wasn't. This is a brand new drive originally destined for a Dell server. Transferring all the data was fairly quick and easy. The drive has been performing as advertised now for a little over a month. It'll be a while before I run out of space again. I did buy a second one for my other server even though it's not needed yet. It's just too good a drive at a good price to pass up.

Low Format Every Hard Drive Before Use
I've been in the field for a very long time and have seen too many drive failures not to be careful. Never assume drives are good from the get go and put them into service right away. I take every new drive and erase every sector of the drive a couple times. If its going fail you need to know before rather than later. This is a good test an ensures good media. This Seagate Constellation went through the trials just fine with no issues. I'm sure I'll get years of use out of it.

A reliable drive
I've used this for a while and everything is perfect. Either it has been sitting around for a while and was just brought into service, or it was removed from service and its SMART data was reset. In any case, I'm happy with it so far. However, CrystalDiskInfo reported that it had run for 3 years before I got it.
