Nana Mouskouri Singt Die Schonsten Deutschen Weihnachtslieder(German Christmas Songs)

Years ago I was a Nana Mouskouri fan but had no idea that she had recorded a German Christmas Song CD; I ran across it while doing a search for German Christmas music, took a chance and ordered it. What a great decision! She has a beautiful, pure soprano voice, and although she is Greek, her German is nearly perfect and her diction flawless. I understood every single word of every song on this CD (which is more than I can say for a lot of recording artists singing in their native language). The piano accompanying her is very subtle and allows her beautiful voice to shine. I need to get myself some more Nana Mouskouri CDs! What a great talent she is. Very happy with this buy.

I was looking for a decent German language Christmas album. Song variety is okay, but unfortunately this only had two songs that I wanted to hear. Nana has a really nice voice. I wish Amazon would bring back its album feature of hearing the songs available. Buying music is a bit of a gamble.

What a lovely and unusual Christmas album to add to our holiday collection. Mouskouri has a voice of an angel and as pure as a crystal bell. Since she was not a "commercial" success, she went unnoticed in this country. I remember her infomercials back in the 70s. Regardless, this album is a treat. It contains German songs and hymns that are not commonly heard in the U.S. Even though it is springtime now, we listen to this CD everyday.

This compilation consists of some of the most beautiful German Christmas songs and includes 'O Tannenbaum' and 'Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht'. These songs were recorded by Nana Mouskouri in 1976 at the Morgan-Studio in Brussels, Belgium and in the Phonogram DAYLIGHT-Studio in Hamburg, Germany. Nana's angelic soprano voice is exceptionally well suited for Christmas songs. The combination of her beautiful voice with the gentle instrumental accompaniment of Alain Goraguer creates a celestial effect. Nana Mouskouri sings very well in German, and this CD is one of my favorite Christmas albums.

Nana M is no longer recording, as far as I know, but she'll always be a favorite, esp for European audiences, singing in several different languages. She's one of those almost in a class by herself. Like actress Audrey Hepburn, also a European woman. Not surprisingly, Nana would succeed Audrey as special ambassador for UNICEF. Someone bigger than simply entertainment.

I really enjoyed the carols, and she has a delightful voice--but best of all, her German is so clearly pronounced, that I understood her every word. I was fascinated by that, considering the fact that it isn't her native tongue. It was a great addition to my Christmas music collection.

This product is a single Audio CD with 11 tracks. All tracks are beautiful German Christmas Songs performed by Nana Mouskouri in German. These songs will seem familiar to non-German speakers, as most have been around for a very long time. A really wonderful collection.

Nana has a powerful voice and it comes out in this CD. The background music is not too loud and you can understand the words. I would recemmond this CD to german listeners.

First heard some of these selections on You-Tube. I have the James Last recordings since 1967. Nana is more traditional in her recordings. Besides, nothing can beat an angel singing these beautiful songs.I was surprised to receive this CD from Germany in 10 days - time to get your copy before Christmas.
