pretty good value for a sport watch.
First, according to the label inside the box, the stainless steel case was made in China, and the movement in the Philippines. This may or may not mean anything about the quality of the watch. No mention of where the final assembly happened. In today's world this just as easily been in Juarez or Bejing. The instruction booklet packed in the box was confusing but I figured it out. The calendar function is set at the factory and you cannot adjust it. The watch is marked water resistant to 100 meters, which probably means you won't damage it if you wear it while washing your hands or sweating heavily, but I would not keep it on in the shower and the instructions actually say to not wear it while diving. Actual set-up the first time was pretty straight forward, after I caught on that the instructions were for lots of different watches and never explains which parts apply to which model numbers. The instructions for the compass were clear enough, but the Timex corporate web page actually has a video that made it much easier. Just need to do it s-l-o-w-l-y. The instructions also said it must be returned to Timex when it needs the battery replaced. So to prolong battery life, I would avoid using the Indiglo lighted dial as much as possible. The hour and minute hands, and eight points on the outer dial, do absorb light and glow in the dark very nicely. I had a battery powered Casio G-Shock which a very competent local jeweler tried to replace its battery and found a maze of tiny o-rings and gave up. So I believe the Timex instructions and hope to get at least a couple of years use before I need to replace the battery. There was a note from another here that their battery went dead very quickly. If the watch is new, it should have a tiny plastic tab in place between the case and the main stem, keeping the mechanism turned off and indicating the battery should be unused when you get the watch. The watch is BIG. It is about a half inch thick and an inch and three quarters across, the size of a silver dollar. The bracelet looks to me to be a tad narrow for best esthetics with this watch. The stem and three buttons function easily, but not so easily that I can move them accidentally. (and that has happened frequently on the several Casio G-Shocks I have had) The timers function clearly, but you are not going to read out hundredth's of a second the way you can on similar all digital watches. The calendar number is big enough that I had no trouble reading it even with eye sight that barely gets me through the state driver's test.Reading the simple time may not be that simple, until you have used the watch for a while. The 'South' end of the compass needle can easily be confused with the hour hand. But the white minute and hour hand also have a narrow red stripe on their ends, so you can read the time precisely, after you become accustomed to looking at the proper hands. The time was still as close as I could read to being the same after one week without re-setting and comparing it to a 'radio' watch that re-sets itself daily with the atomic standard clock in Colorado.Inspite of being a 'soulless' electronic watch, mass-produced in nameless factories, the design of the dial and functions are interesting and with the clear "Timex" label, it carries its own cachet of style that says this is no fake Rolex, made to impress the ignorant.

so good. Once you get used to it
So far, so good. Once you get used to it, the display is quite nice. The chrono is quick to read, this has a tachymeter which I didn't expect, the light function works well enough in the dark, and everything feels sturdy and well-built.The wristband is not steel which is what I hoped, it's plastic. Also, the compass is not terribly accurate, it's often wrong by as much as 20 degrees as far as I can tell, even after calibration.

Very Exacting
A very nice watch, intelligently designed for exacting results.Very fine hand pointers that give an exact reading without confusion.Easy to set up and use, but read the directions and save yourself some frustration. The compass is dead on once calibrated. The fit and finish remarkable for such an inexpensive watch."INTELLIGENT QUARTZ", I think TIMEX has really hit upon something here.Sizing the band is a challenge, but doable. It's a double ended screw bolt with a tiny little cap screw on one end. Just being able to see what you are doing is step one...(You'll need tweezers).I paid $159.00 and it was a good deal. Very pleased.

Real nice watch.
My buddy just got this watch and I sized it for him. This watch looks way better in person. Plenty of features and it looks real nice. Feels well built. Beware of the instructions regarding sizing the bracelet, they are incorrect. The manual indicates to push out a pin but this watch band has screws so 2 small screwdrivers were needed to size. This watch is worth its price.

Excellent Watch
I have been very pleased with the watch, looks great and has some cool features. About the only downside is that the watch band is difficult to adjust, but a jeweler took care of it right away.Got this to replace a Citizen watch that cost 3x more but failed after 5 years of regular use.

Cool but useless
It is more novel than useful. The compass function is only accurate to +/- 10 degrees. Then it's only active for 20 sec. The duel time & 24 hour functions are performed by the same sub dial so it's one or the other. It doesn't matter though because the scale is so small the hour is all that can be determined.

Great watch
This watch is looks great in the picture, but even better in real life.It is quite a big watch, it's well made and seams like it will last a long time, even for a person like me who seams to get through watches quite quickly. All functions work and the compass is accurate and the timer is easy to read. The manual is for more than one watch, just a bit of a warning as I know other people have said earlier that the manual is a bit confusing.I would recommend this watch to teenage boys and young men.Overall it is a great watch and defiantly recommend it to others, worth all five stars.

Hammer!
Chapeau
