Dakine Mission Photo Backpack, Phoenix, 25-Liter

I bought this backpack in preparation for a few trips this summer. I wanted to be able to bring my Canon EOS Rebel T5 camera along with accessories and an extra lens, but also needed a backpack to carry a few other things. I own a smaller Dakine backpack that I love so decided to try this one out.The best feature that sold me on this bag was that you could remove the camera compartment (held securely in place by velcro and a strap that goes over the flap) and basically use the backpack as a "regular" backpack. Although I primarily bought this to hold my camera and accessories, it's nice to know that is a more than serviceable backpack if I need it to be.The camera bag section can be configured to your exact camera needs by moving around the velcro dividers. I use one to hold my camera with the EF-S18/55 IS II Lens attached. Another holds the EF75/300 III Lens. A third holds a mini tripod and there is still plenty of room left.There's a also a lot of pockets both inside the camera case section and throughout the backpack. Two pockets in particular are handy. One side pocket opens up into a mesh bottle holder. Another has a soft, felt type interior that's perfect for holding sunglasses. There is also "pouch" section at the bottom that holds a rain cover if needed.There is a sleeve like area that I could store my tablet (I have a Galaxy Tab S 10.5"). Even with a case on it fits with room to spare. I'm sure any tablet will fit but I don't think any laptop could.Another great thing about this backpack are the shoulder straps. Super comfortable. I spent half a day carrying it around a museum and didn't feel much shoulder fatigue at all. I can easily see myself using it for a whole day without a problem. There are also straps around the chest and waist. I've tried them and they are comfortable if I decide to use it. I wouldn't normally unless I'd take it hiking or something like that.This is an all-around great backpack to store your gear. It's obviously designed for a camera but since that compartment can be customized, if you have other gear that needs to be secured, it can easily be used for that. And with the camera section being removable, it's a real value add to be able to use it like a regular backpack. Dakine is a great brand that has a lifetime warranty. Highly recommend.UPDATE 07/13/14Just got back from a four day trip to Chicago. Used this backpack for about 8 hours a day. Extremely comfortable; never had shoulder fatigue once. It rained for about an hour on the second day so I deployed the rain cover. Fits like a glove and covers just about the entire bag (doesn't cover the straps if you are wearing it). Very nifty feature!

What a great bag. I love that you can take out the inner camera bag if u want to use this bag as a backpack. Took this to dominican for a week and it went with me everywhere i went. Its well made and has strong seams. Some of the inside pockets are a little small but overall its a great storage bag. I store a canon 70d with tamron 18-270 attached with batteries flash and lens filters and cleaning supplies. Theres room for 2 more lenses if i wanted to use it but usually dont want to carry the extra weight 5 star bag for sure and well worth the price tag

Perfekt heißt natürlich nicht perfekt, sondern so gut, dass ich die kleinen Nachteile nicht störend finde.Das Fassungsvolumen ist begrenzt!25 Liter sind für den Alltag, Uni, Hobby, etc. mehr als ausreichend. Will man größere Gegenstände verstauen, stößt man schnell an seine Grenzen.Die herausnehmbare Kameratasche ist gepolstert und verstärkt. Sie lässt sich auch seperat in der Hand tragen oder verstauen.Bei einer großen DSRL, zwei Objektiven und ein bisschen zubehör ist aber auch schon Schluss.Aber dafür trägt man nicht so ein "Monstrum" auf dem Rücken.An den Seiten befinden sich auch noch kleine Fächer, wo man Kleinkrams reinpacken kann.Das praktisch verwendbare Volumen ist dadurch begrenzt, dass das Volumen vor allem duch Höhe statt tiefe zustande kommt, was sich im übrigen auch am Tragekomfort positiv bemerkbar macht ( aber dazu später).Über bzw eher in dem Hauptfach eingelassen befindet sich ein kleines Fach, welches mal echt praktisch, aber manchmal auch das Gegenteil.Je nach Situation. Es klaut aber ein wenig Volumen vom Hauptfach.Das Material ist angenehm und die Verarbeitung ist gut. Bis jetzt sind noch keine Schwachstellen aufgetaucht.Das Design ist typisch Dakine, modisch, Zeitlos.Vom Tragekomfort ist das eines der besten Daypacks / Kamerarucksäcke, die ich bis jetzt getragen habe.Die Polsterung ist schlicht aber trotzdem gut.Auch hat er kein "high tech Belüftungssystem". Im Sommer macht sich das auch bemerkbar, für meinen Geschmack aber nicht so dramatisch.Er liegt sehr gut am Körper an.Sehr gut finde ich den Hüftgurt. Er ist nicht nur breit, sondern hat auch gepolsterte Hüftflossen.Diese sind ziemlich groß dimensioniert, was sich sehr Vorteilhaft auswirkt.Für manche mag das vielleicht störend sein, aber die Last der schweren Ausrüstung wird somit perfekt auf die Hüften gelegt.Ich erwähnte, das der Rucksack recht lang ist. Und...?...Bei vielen Daypacks hängt der Hüftgurt irgendwo unter den Rippen, wenn man ihn hoch trägt, oder man muss die Schulterträger gefühlt bis zum Ende lockern, damit der Gurt einigermaßen auf der Hüfte liegt.Hier aber sitzt der von vornerein fast perfekt. Also nur noch eine Feineinstellung notwendig.Ich kann ihn und viele weitere Dakine-Rucksäcke nur weiterempfehlen.

Die Qualität des Rucksacks ist hervorragend, stabil und robust! Mehr Platz als man denkt und viele Fächer! Kann ich nur empfehlen!

Zuerst eines vorweg: Ich bin noch nicht dazugekommen, mit dem Rucksack meine Kameraausrüstung zu transportieren. Ich habe ihn deshalb gekauft, um ihn auf dem Weg zur Arbeit zu benützen und darüber hinaus um auf Reisen meine Ausrüstung sicher transportieren zu können. Leider versagt er in letzterem im vergleich zu meinem alten Dakine-Rucksack, und zwar aus folgenden Gründen:- Obwohl die obere Tasche an sich praktisch ist, füllt sie den gesamten oberen Bereich des Hauptfachs aus. Damit wird das Verstauen von Einkäufen im unteren Bereich des Hauptfachs erschwert.- Wenn man nun auf die Idee kommt, einfach den Reißverschluss weiter aufzumachen, dann klappt öffnet sich der Reißverschluss durch das Eigengewicht des vorderen Deckels vollständig und der gesamte vordere Teil des Rucksacks kappt nach unten.- Also macht man den Reißverschluss lieber weniger auf. Neben Problem 1 bleibt man mit dieser Methoden auch noch an dem Querband hängen, das den Deckel der gepolsterten Box mit dem vorderen Deckel des Rucksacks verbindet.- Schließlich noch etwas zum Hüftgurt: Während er auf langen Wanderungen sicher ganz praktisch ist, kommt er im Alltag nur in die Quere.Fazit: Wer wie ich denkt, er könne mit diesem zwei Fliegen auf einen Schlag erlegen, der irrt sich.
