EXCELLENT!
///December 29, 2013\\\How do i start? i am a first time system builder that did tons of "homework" on building my own computer so i decided to go with an intel proccessor and decided on buying this board because it was cheap. First of all This board's BIOS gives you the ability to use a mouse in it. which is nice and the EZ mode which is what it starts up into shows all of your voltage's and MOBO and CPU temps. once i got windows in it i loaded the disc which came with it that had all the major drivers in it and some software thats is for the board that allows you to monitor your Temps and Voltage's while on windows! also you can adjust your fan speeds whenever you want all straight from windows and it saves them. the only thing this board doesn't do is SLI. because the second x16 slot on the board runs at x4. but 2 cards in crossfire makes both of the slots run at x8. at least thats what i have found out. this board came with 2 SATA cables to use. ive checked all the slots on the board and all of them are working and none are defective. i will update this review for as long as i have this board. overrall? 5/5///January 28, 2014\\\ive had this board for almost a month now and so far just 1 little issue that has happened once and hasnt happened again. basically windows showed that something crashed and i couldnt read it because the system froze up. but past that i have no issues with this board and it looks like its gonna hold up. the temp probe for the acutal board itself is always sitting around 15 Celcius probaly because my room is always like 40 F. but i will continue to keep this review updated on my experience with this board. My Rig:Asus P8Z77-V LX2 x 4GB Corsair vengeanceIntel i5 3570k quad core @ 3.4GhzEVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB1 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD750W Corsair PSU

Lot's of new stuff AND backward compatible for this price! Yes, yes it's true!
This board works as advertized, and if you buy it, get a little SSD drive to ship with it. This board has all the tools needed to overclock, but if you are serious about performance, do something about those old hard drives. What this chipset does that its predecessors doesn't is allow you to use an SSD drive as a large cache for your old platter-based storage system. It works regardless of whether your disks are arranged in a Raid array, or stand alone... And it makes a huge difference to the snappiness of the system. This is a brilliant little board that will do anything your average user/gamer would want, while still giving you legacy PCI slots?! Hats off to ASUS. They are my new first stop when building a computer.

Makes a Build a Breeze
Pros:Full featured motherboard for not much money.Plenty of USB ports. There are 3 USB 2 headers on the MB of which one is used for the chassis front panel. In order to use the remaining headers you may want to install a front panel USB bay or rear panel slot adapters.I used an ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2, CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Multi-Directional Mount, 92mm PWM Fan for a CPU cooling solution. Although the RAM slot clearance for A1 is tight I believe it would be ok if low profile RAM were used. I only utilized blue slots A2 and B2 (per Asus' recommendation for the two sticks of 4GB RAM I used.My case has a bottom mounted power supply location and the cable reach for the eight pin power connector provides for a somewhat inelegant stretch over the Radeon HD 7850 video card.In general the MB layout is very good and everything is clearly labeled making for an easy build for first timers or infrequent hobbyists such as myself.Cons:One downside I encountered was the LAN connection not working until after I installed the drivers from included disk. I didn't use a DVD ROM with this build thinking I could do everything from my network connection so not having that necessitated running back and forth from another computer with a USB flash drive.Another problem was the newly installed Windows 7 Home Edition Device Manager showing an exclamation mark indicating a problem with SM Bus drivers not working. I went to the Asus Web Site looking for a newer version but that didn't seem to work. Ultimately I had to download the correct drivers from Intel's site to resolve this. Not a serious matter, but annoying.Lastly, when I attempted to use the Asus BIOS update utility it detected and downloaded the wrong version for this motherboard. I had to manually look through the site and find the files for "LX" version. In conclusion, I would recommend this motherboard for casual system builders on a budget. It's easy to overclock. I've got it running with an i5 3570K bumped up to 4Ghz with zero issues. With the Samsung SSD and a 1TB HDD the system runs fast and smoothly.Edit 12/26/2018The computer this motherboard is in is still cranking after five years of daily use!

Awful Issue
I bought this board the first time about 2 weeks ago or something like that.I was excited to get it, unboxed it put it on the bench and put my new processor and RAM in it. Got the DRAM led and it would not post. Switched the RAM up in weird slot variations and found that the furthest left two slots were dead. RAM was BRAND new and tested in another system and was fine.RMA and exchange.Got the second one. Got it on the bench had some nice benchmarks on it, got it to post ran a few programs was working fine. Turned it off, left. Came back and turned my machine on. DRAM led. Could not post. Figured it was the exact same problem as before, and it seems it is. Will not post with RAM in the either furthest left two slots.Took RAM and re-tested in other machine to make sure it hadnt died, and it seems the board killed the RAM as well.RMA for full refund. Conclusion:Good looking product, would have loved to use it. But two boards with the exact same problem is too creepy for me to try a third.Amazon, as always, dealt with the problem very well and even paid for new RAM. But all I have to say, is be careful and monitor things. Others seem to have good luck with it. Guess I got stuck with two bad ones.Or the board is poor quality. You decide.
