Great machine
I’ve owned at least ten of these dehydrators they are a awesome machine. I’ve been making beef jerky for years on a large scale to sell at work, big success can’t say enough good things about them . The heating element does go out after a year of heavy use but still well worth the money. I read comments on this board about making jerky in 8 hours that can’t be true because it only takes 3 1/2 hours with six trays fully loaded

Dehydrator
I make dried apple slices for snacks and this dehydrator makes it so much easier than doing it in the oven. I bought the extra trays so I can make big batches. I also make jerky and the dehydrator works great for that as well. Really glad I bought this product. I use it two to four times a week.

Love this dehydrator
Love this dehydrator. Been using it for two years now. No problems and easy to use. I like the fan/motor is at the top so when the crumbs or juices fall into the bottom it's easy to wipe down.

Awsome product!!! Made some venison jerky in about 8 Hrs. Only drawback is it comes with only 4 trays. If you want to do a big batch you will have to order extra trays.

Lasted Eight Years under Weekly Service for Making Chicken Jerky
While we had some problems with replacement trays (but resolved by Amazon) this dehydrator has served us well. Turns 5 1/2 pound of sliced chicken breast into dog jerky in 10:30 hours at 165 degrees. Perfectly suitable for human jerky from pork, beef, or chicken with the addition of spices. We store the product in the refrigerator, but it seems perfectly dry. Ordering a new one today, accepting eight years as a reasonable run. We carefully sanitize trays after each run.I should add that I see different times listed for making jerky. We use 10 and a half hours with the target product of rock-hard chicken or pork jerky for a 100#+ German Shepard. Less time may be needed for making jerky for people.

Brains over beauty
A lot of research went into choosing this dehydrator. While I like the look better of some of the square, black models on the market, the functionality of this machine won out. I liked that the heating element is on top, so if there are any drippings I don't have to worry about it leaking into the motor. There is a fan that evenly distributes the heat to make it faster and more efficient. It is also extremely easy to clean. All of the layer come apart and can simply be wiped down. The thermostat and timing features are easy to operate and read and it comes with a great instruction manual that helps you determine the heat and time setting of a wide variety of foods. Finally, I liked that additional trays can be purchased and up to 20 trays used at a time. I purchase large quantities of fruit when it is in season, and can now process it quickly. I sat on the sidelines for a long time looking at dehydrators but when I finally jumped in I'm glad I chose brains over beauty. I have and would recommend it to anyone considering a dehydrator.

Better than the Excalibur
I am relatively new to dehydrating food. Did much research before purchasing an excalibur. Doing a full load of apples took 20 hours. In the garden master with 8 trays, 6 pounds of granny smith pealed, sliced and cored takes 8 hours. There is a bit better drying of the trays at the top so one rotation is recommended. Have not yet drilled a hole in a tray so I can monitor temperature but will do so and report back.
