Works With Skype!
I am using a non jailbroken 3G 64GB Ipod Touch and I can confirm that Skype works. Both the mic and the speaker can work at the same time, I believe Skype is the only application where this is possible. You make calls via speaker phone at all times, there is no option to keep the phone close to your head. This is simply because of the design of the device and the only way you can use voip. The build quality is very good, and there is no reason to purchase a competitor's mic which will cost 300% the price of this one. At less than $5, every single person with an ipod touch immediately needs to get this mic so that they can start making ridiculously cheap voip calls on an ipod of all things.Edit: So I have been using Skype and this mic for a while now, and they work well most of the time. I have had several 30min-1hr conversations while other people were driving on the highway etc and they all remarked that the call quality was good. However, there are some people who I seem to go straight to voicemail, which I do not understand. So far this is only one person, but as he is using an AT&T iphone, I am not sure the problem. I have gotten a skype number and unlimited calling for 1 year plus voicemail for only $60. The touch can ring when other people call if skype is open or in the background. You are now able to jailbreak the latest 3.1.3 firmware so running skype in the background is easily doable. To run apps in the background, download backgrounder. To keep wifi on all the time, download insomnia. If the mic is plugged in, however, you will hear no ring. You could keep the mic unplugged and connect it whenever you receive a call, but this obviously sucks. I suspect there will be some fix to this relatively soon, but this is so far the biggest roadblock in using the ipod touch as my main phone. Another downside is that receiving texts to your skype number is not as easy as simply texting to that number. Google voice, which is semi out now, does not have this problem. In any case, its worth paying $30 to get unlim calls for a year without the online number right now. Sending texts via skype is also somewhat expensive at 11 cents. On my jailbroken iphone that i use with tmobile, I only pay 10cents per text on a prepaid plan.

Impressive considering the price
I have a Sony digital voice recorder with a Sony mic, and that certainly records much better than this microphone-iPod duo. But look. The iPod was not made to be a radio-quality digital voice recorder like the Sony was, and no one buys an iPod touch to record high-quality audio. For the iPod, this is just another one of many features. And there's a lot of iPod microphones out there, and some of them are very expensive. This one is cheap as heck, and worth every cent. I can't believe how well it works for the price I paid for it. If you want to record high-quality audio, put down the iPod and get yourself a digital audio recorder. If you want to be able to use your iPod's voice memo function or use it to record interviews in a pinch, get this microphone.I've found that for recording voices from up-close (that is, if I'm interviewing someone and I stick the mic in their face) then this works just fine and I hardly notice the difference between the iPod and the digital voice recorder. The big difference shows up at a distance. My digital voice recorder records exactly what I hear--so if I'm sitting in a room full of people and I can hear the speaker just fine, then my digital audio recorder records the audio just fine. The iPod, on the other hand, isn't good at picking up voices from a distance. I don't know if this is the mic's fault or the iPod's fault.

Mini Microphone for iphone
I bought this in hopes to reduce my computer time and not to forget. I have 4 kids and I like to keep a journal on new things they are now doing. This is a way for me to quickly get my info down on my Touch and then send it to my computer in Text -30 sec. at a time. (Then to later put it into my journal)This does not catch every word, but close. I am really happy with this product and because my ear canals are small, the headphone that are very popular do not stay in my ears. So this is perfect for me!I do like that it is small, but it is then also easy to misplace, Therefore I put a key chain holder on the cap part- My only issue is that you do need to remove the mic in order to hear it on your Touch/iPhone.

Works perfectly on any iPod phone or Touch.
I recently bought this model for my iPod Touch 3rd generation and received it in 4 days. It works beautifully. Produces great sound for my voice recordings, and easily picks up the tones when I use an app called Guitar Tuner for my acoustic guitar. There is nothing bad to say; it is a small package that is easily plugged in, even when the Touch is in it's leather case, and easily unplugged. It is very well built, and the plug cover stays on the connector and completes the look of a capsule when not in use. I paid $2.99, which included shipping, so I got the best deal around. As a comparison, I also purchased one of the colored mini mics from another dealer for much more. The first blue mini mic I received wasn't recognized by my iPod Touch 3rd generation, even though it was supposed to be compatible. I received a second one, but it too didn't work. After going to the Apple Store and working with a technician, they weren't able to make it work, even with the technician's iPod Touch 3rd generation, though the blue mini mic did work with the iPod Touch 4th generation and the iPhone 4th generation.I would say that this mini mic is the one to have, if you want to use recording, and voice or sound recognition capabilities with your iPod.
