My first NAS
I have wanted one of these for a long time and did a considerable amount of research before buying one. I had a pretty good idea of my purpose for it, but had trouble deciding on how many bays and what other features I wanted to get with this. With so many things to consider and given the amount of money I would be spending, I wanted to be sure I got what I needed and wanted. I like the brand and the features and options that are offered with this model. I did not need to max out on drive capacity at this time, so I like the fact that I can upgrade to larger drives later if I want to. The web interface for the NAS was a new experience for me, but I am learning. There is a significant amount of software available with the NAS, but I am still learning that too. Would be nice if there were video tutorials (other than youtube) to help me better chose what additional software I could install to really take full advantage of the all that is available. Overall, I would definitely recommend this model to another person in a similar position as me.

This thing is super easy to setup and manage
It is rare that I purchase something and it far exceeds my expectation but I have to say this product did just that. I was a little reluctant to purchase as I didn't really want to spend this much on a media server to run Plex and a file server with RAID, but after reading up on it, I decided to give it a try. I am fairly technically minded (this setup is replacing a stand alone Plex server running Linux via command line and an old ReadyNas NV+ that is rather finicky these days) and was expecting to need to do a lot of command line functions to get to some of the advanced features (spoiler I haven't needed it once). This thing is super easy to setup and manage; far easier than I expected. Turning features on and off through the web portal interface is a breeze and the Qnap is more than powerful enough to run Plex server transcoding to an Apple TV in the living and simultaneously playing media on a computer in my office as well as perform file server functions at the same time; my typical use case. I suspect I would be able to transcode to second device in addition to the other fucctions without issue, but I haven't tried. Also, it is very responsive over the Gigabit single port when coping large media files back and forth as well as backups so I didn't think I will be connecting the additional ports (it apparently supports up to 4 total Gigabit port connections IF you get a special switch which I am not going to get). Playback is smooth and skipping chapters is relatively quick but not a quick as skipping chapters on a BluRay disk from my Blu Ray player. Also, it is super quiet during normal operations. I have it in the basement, but I could add it to the media center in my living run and play media directly from there and not worry about annoying fan noise. One thing to note, you will need to buy your own drives so keep that in mind as an added cost. Factor in 8 hard drives in addition to the cost of this server. And lastely, Qnap uses less than a quarter of the electricity than my previous stand lone Plex server and old ReadyNAS file server and is far faster. Very nicely executed machine.

Needed to replace my old Plex server.
I had a QNAP TS-451 that I bought 4 years ago that developed a hardware issue. It still worked but stopped seeing any drive in bay 4. I contacted QNAP support for repair options. It turned out that the out of warranty repair was going to cost over half of the cost of a new unit and could have several weeks turnaround so I decided it was time for an upgrade. The TVS-673e had very good reviews from all the sources I checked and Amazon had a "used - like new" one for more than $200 less than the cost of a new one. I figured it came with the original 2 year warranty and a 30 day return option so I ordered it. The unit arrived and other than damage to the original QNAP box the TVS-673e looked like it had never been un-packed. All the listed accessories were still in their original packing material and the protective plastic cover was still on the front panel of the unit. Installation and setup was a breeze. and I just moved the 4 drives from the TS-451 to the new unit and all my data was still intact. The TVS-673e has several features that the old unit lacked and as of this writing has worked flawlessly. For a home or small office this is an ideal full featured unit with lots of expandability. I've ordered many used items from Amazon and never received any non-working or broken items. In most cases it was hard to tell that they were not brand new. Occasionally they will not be in the original packaging material but in general all have been clean and undamaged. With Amazon's liberal return policy it really isn't a risk. if you want to save some cash it's definitely worth a look.

Just OK - Not Quite What I Expected
When I bought this I had visions of a central NAS that would serve multiple purposes (Shared Drives, Backup, Media Server, DNS Server, Surveillance NVR). Unfortunately, the documentation is lacking, the performance is less than I expected, and some of the tasks I envisioned simply can't be accomplished. After buying I added 32GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. First, it only supports SATA M.2 SSDs, not NVMe. Second, the SSD runs so hot that it's effectively useless. Even after adding a giant heatsink to the SSD, it still runs too hot. The additional RAM that I added never gets used unless I'm running containers that require it. Data access speeds and RAID rebuild times are quite slow as compared to the old Linux box this is replacing. Media file transcoding is advertised by QNAP, but to my knowledge there's no way to actually use it any longer. It seems QNAP has silently removed that feature. QVR Pro for Surveillance proved to be seriously buggy, so much so that I ended up buying a Hikvision NVR instead of using it. Configuration of shared drives proved to be a challenge as well. Initial setup seemed easy, but transfer speeds were awful. It took a lot of research to finally get things working somewhat normally. Also, when running Plex it works fine while serving music files or 1080p video, but it simply can't keep up with 4k video files. I wish I would have bought a faster one or just built a new Linux box with 8 drive bays.
