Far Too Inflexible - Reliability Doubtful
This unit has serious flaws - mostly based around the seemingly pointless limitation of its programming interface -It might have two independent valves, but they cannot be programmed independently. There are 6 on/off time windows which can be set up. Three (1, 3 and 5) control valve A and three (2, 4 and 6) control valve B. The problem is that you cannot overlap any of these time windows, so you can't have both valves open at the same time. There seems to me no earthly reason why this should be the case unless somehow Claber are trying to upsell people to a more sophisticated timer unit. So if you want to water two things on two channels at the same time - tough luck.As if that weren't bad enough, the controller won't let you create a new time window until the one below it has been created. This leads to the ludicrous situation where you can't create a watering time for valve B until one has been created for valve A. And you couldn't set up (say) two time windows for valve B and one for valve A. You'd need to set up two for A first. If you only want one for A and two for B you're out of luck. What?None of these limitations are apparent until you start trying to program the unit. There is nothing mentioned on the box or in the product description. There is a small paragraph right at the end of the manual which mentions that programs cannot overlap. In addition to this, you can only set the day function for both valves simultaneously. You cannot have valve A active on (say) day 1, 4 and 5 and valve B active only on day 4. That may or may not be a limitation for you. Also, the days are not days of the week, there are 7 days available, and day 1 is the day you program the timer! My first unit worked for a couple of months, but then valve A stopped working. It would click, but no water would come out. I;ve heard of this happening to other similar units, and it does make me wonder about the longevity of the unit. If this happened while you were away on holiday for 2 weeks in the summer, you may well come back to find plants dead or dying from lack of water. Luckily I was not in that situation, and spotted it has stopped working. The design of the unit is attractive (for whatever that's worth) and it appears to be reasonably robust, physically well constructed and waterproof. The connector which attaches to the tap is a standard 3/4" BSP fitting (and allows rotation so the screen can be at the front). The connectors at the base are 1/2" BSP. This means that if you want to connect anything which would normally screw onto a 3/4" garden tap to the bottom, you're going to need a pair of adapters. The manual valve actuation is a bit of a pain. There are unfortunately no buttons which you can use to open them with a single press - the black round buttons on the side of the case are only three to release the faceplate to allow the battery to be changed. In order to actuate valves manually, you need to step through the programming menu, select the valve, select to actuate it, select to turn it on, then select to close it again and finally step back through the menu to the beginning. A manually opened valve will automatically turn itself off after 15 minutes. It's also only possible to open one valve at a time.So all in all quite a disappointing experience. If you can put up with the limitations above, then it may be a suitable unit for you. If not, then I suggest you look elsewhere.

awesome product
just bought this Claber 8420 and it is amazing. I love the fact that you can start one outlet for as long as you want then stop it and start the second one for as long as you want it to go. It's a big load off our shoulders. Easy to program and there is also a video that explains step by step. Now we can leave for the weekend and not worry about our vegetable garden or our flowers! I really do recommend anyone to buy this.
