Heavy-Handed, But Strong In Its Day
I've owned this before but let it go years ago. I brought this because I wanted to own another example of the beauty of Neal Adams' art. (I wanted it to be in the same room as his "Superman vs. Muhammad Ali." I appreciate that Denny O'Neill tried to throw as many socio-political bombs as he could. RIP, Messrs.

DC Cannot Be Hip
When The Green Arrow teamed up with The Green Lantern comic books had discovered the perfect odd couple.Green Arrow, was a rich, bored hippy and the always droll Green Lantern was his foil and buddy. The art on display here was the best of best (Neal Adams) and the writing was O.K. but when middle aged guys tried to relate to the teenagers of 1970 the results were closer to cutting edge comedy than to the social commentary they thought they were capturing. For DC Comics the GA/GL team ups and the short-lived duo named The Hawk & The Dove (as Ying/Yang as it gets!) came the closest to cool. Our parents couldn't dig Humble Pie and that older generation did not have an easy time writing comic books back in the early seventies for the younger generation.I remember these comics well and the Christ guy chained to the jumbo jet will (at least) seem a little less than sane these days it was as close to Jesus Christ Superstar as comic books aimed at teenagers could be during this era. Social issues are addressed (many for the first time in a comic book) and it is right here where the mainstream became aware of what was going on in the world and they were willing to give it some exposure in print.I don't think any of the stories in this book would appeal to teenagers of 2019 but I really think "Travelin' Heroes" hits the mark for what it is. This is a trip backwards 50 years to when it was all in our faces. Good and bad walk side by side and The Green Lantern and The Green Arrow are out there to make the world a more groovy place. If you don't dig Hunter S. Thompson or Tom Wolfe this volume may not spin your wheels at all. But for us old-farts it's a good-look see into another time in the same place. This is a well produced book and I had fun reading this one.FIVE STARS !!!

The artist at his best Neal Adams shines in some great stories and artwork.
The artist at his best Neal Adams shines in some great stories and artwork. I wish it had been marketed as an oversized book of his art and stories. II would love to see his 60-70s comic book work printed oversized and in b&w. His line work is so good it shouldn't be obscured by color.

Flashback to a younger age
I remember reading a couple stories from this series when I was a kid about 12, and how they impacted me both in terms of content and artwork. The artwork seemed levels better than most of the comics of the day, and the stories were, for the first time (in my experience), about real life social issues (and evils) as opposed to the standard "some bad guy with super powers trying to take over the world" type fare. I'm glad the author/artist got recognition for moving comics into a more serious mode. Some of the stories are a little silly as I read them today, but a couple (particularly the ones dealing with drug abuse and ecological damage) are strong and surprisingly as relevant today. The book itself it very good quality, and the print no doubt is leagues better than the $.10 low definition tissue paper printing of comics from the 1970s. I enjoyed reading them.

A good read!
It is wonderful to have these all in one place and on nicer paper. They are a bit dated and ham handed in places, but remain vibrant and masterful tales.

A Fresh Look at an Old Favorite Hero.
I remember in the spring of 1970. I bought a copy of Green Lantern #76. It blew me away. The series had a new writer, Denny O'Neil, a new artist, Neal Adams, a pardner for Green Lantern, Green Arrow. Not the Green Arrow I was used to, the rich man with the gadget arrows, but a poor, radical Green Arrow, championing the underdog. What followed was perhaps the greatest run in comic book history. Kudos to Dc for bringing out this deluxe hardcover reprinting all those .fabulous stories from the early '70s.

A really good Hardcover edition
The book came in good packaging and was undamaged, great book with messages still relevant today. One of DC’s most powerful storylines and I highly recommend it.

Excelente.
