Cultivation of Sexual Energy
Erick Yudelove has been a student of Mantak Chia. He has put together a manual for practice that encompasses the information that could be found in Mantak Chia's books, but is further enhanced, clarified and perhaps simplified by Yudelove's own discoveries. The book covers some basic practices from Taoist Alchemy such as Six Healing Sounds, Microcosmic Orbit, Inner Smile and some forms of breathing before proceeding with sexual practices. The book also includes the practices related to the Fusion of the Five Elements, Bone Marrow and Standing Chi Kung.

And Now For Something Completely Different
It is great to be alive today. I can sit in America and have access to a book that clearly teaches what I could have learned if I had gone to China and, if I was fortunate enough, if I could have met and learned from several Taoist masters, and then put the practices all together into a coherent whole. It might have taken me decades to do this. The teachings in this book are very advanced and are explained very well. Week by week, for 14 weeks, you can follow the lessons and grow proficient in ways you never would have thought of. Even if you sat on a rock for a thousand years, you would have never thought of these practices, as Yudelove is fond of writing. These practices have been taught for hundreds to thousands of years. In China they were considered secret and hidden to all but a very few. When they were taught originally, I believe the teachings were very obscure, and I believe deliberately so. So even if you found a master, what you might have gotten would have been very difficult to follow. We are fortunate that Mr Yudelove had the training and the ability to put together a coherent practice that we can follow.A word of caution: These practices will seem strange to many Westerners. I know people who believe that the Harry Potter books are evil, so anyone can believe anything, it seems. At the fundamental base of these teachings is the core concept that sexual energy is the most potent form of energy within the human body and that it can be harnessed and used for healing, health, vitality, and for spiritual progress. This is something that my Midwestern Methodist brain has a difficult time grasping. Most western spiritual practices, and most eastern ones for that matter, value celibacy and do not want to have anything to do with sexual energy. Sex is bad unless it is for procreation, say most religious authorities. This book is not for someone who hold sexual energy in a negative light! If you are open minded and experimental, you will be rewarded with some mind-blowing practices and concepts.Another word of caution: I still believe that practices based on sexual energy can backfire for some. For some, sexual energy is too powerful to control and it will control them. Some can go through the practices and emerge on top of their sexual powers; whereas some may well go off the deep end. I have read, but cannot confirm, that Yudelove has had a period where he seems to have gotten too wound up. I believe that has passed. Still, it's worth noting that these practices deal with potent energies. Yudelove says that these practices are safe. These are advanced practices. Yudelove has done a great job in making these into incremental lessons, the later ones building on and extending the earlier ones. I have read through the book to get a general idea of the teachings and have tried some of the practices. The results have been promising and, some, amazing. I plan to start over and do them week by week to really build on them.As an example, Yudelove asks you to imagine that your eyeballs can rotate 360 degrees in your head, or at least have you imagine and feel that they can do that. I thought there must be a misprint, surely he did not mean 360 degrees? I couldn't even imagine 180 degrees. I closed my eyes as I read this, and to my surprise I was easily able to imagine and feel that my eyes COULD FEEL as if they were rotating 360 degrees, not just once, and quite easily. In fact, my eyes seemed to like the feeling and went merrily around many more times. I had to stop them. It seemed a bit of a shame, because they seemed to like the exercise. I found it easier to do this in the preferred Taoist sitting posture (in a chair) and more difficult to do when laying down. This eye rolling seems to be important and tied to the microcosmic orbit exercises and meditations I have read about in Mantak Chia's books. The rotating of the eyes mentally rotating towards the back of the body at the bottom of the orbit and rotating towards the front of the body at the top matches and syncs with the same direction one used in the microcosmic orbit. One thing about these kinds of books, if all you do is read them then you may have a superficial level of knowing about them from the point of view of an outsider looking in at something separate, and not really understanding much at all. These yoga practices, like all yoga, needs to be done and experienced in order to understand them. It is through an experience of something that we can come close to understanding it, and that understanding does not come from the brain, but from the whole body, or from our whole being.I have glimpsed some deeper truths that are contained in correspondences, such as colors and sounds associated with the major body organs. I thought these correspondences were quaint and antiquated, you know, something I could forgive the old masters who were undoubtedly insular and limited in their understanding thousands of years ago in China, especially from my point of view as a representative of the modern world where we think we know everything because we can find something on the Internet and that everything worth knowing comes in verbal thoughts from my brain. I was wrong.I also have begun to glimpse the idea that internal organs have a corresponding external organ. For example, the kidneys are an internal organ and the corresponding external organs are our ears. The Taoists say that Kidneys are of the water element, sinking energy, and are by nature Yin energy, a cool energy. When I followed a Qijong practice of rubbing my external ears and earlobes, I was quite surprised to find that I immediately feel an intense chill in my spine. It was eerie. It must be part of our internal neural wiring. The kidneys are central and powerful organs in these practices. There is a lot to learn from this book. I have gotten a lot out of it already just reading it on a superficial level. I am pleased to say that my body seems to like the attention I give it now, and that I find these practices easy to do, somewhat addictive, and deeply profound. One final aspect of these practices, and the Qigong that I practice, is that focusing inward and feeling and experiencing my body more deeply moves me directly to the present moment and away from the brain chatter. I find being much more present to be highly desirable. This book is not for everyone, but to the few that can profit from it, I recommend it highly.

An important book that I found again.
I owned this book years ago and now I have it again. I find this book easier to understand than a lot of chi kung books.

"Taoist Yoga and Sexual Energy" was and is a spectacular read! It's very informative regarding the Daoist techniques for chi cultivation and mastery of the sexual energy. I've read many different texts on the subject and I can honestly say that it was straight to the point. The language was clear and plain which was positve. Usually books regarding inner alchemy can be very cryptic, that wasn't the case with this book. I would recommend it to anyone interested in inner alchemy, magic, Chi Gung, or any of the sciences of internal energy.
