“Cats and I don’t get along!” [Eliza]
In this 1993 made for TV thriller, middle aged couple Katie [Kate Jackson] and Guy Nast [Kenneth Welsh] are trying to mend their rocky marriage on their yacht in the South Pacific when they come across a wrecked yacht and rescue an almost dead couple, Eliza [Kelly Rowan] and Nick [Bruce greenwood]. They soon learn the couple were forced to kill their two crew members after they turned on them during a storm, but are the castaways what they seem? This wastes little time getting to the main point less than 10 minutes in and it’s soon clear that Eliza has some personality disorders. As the main plot develops, so the relationship issues come into play and even before 20 minutes are up it’s clear that stories on both sides don’t add up and tensions grow. For a Tv movie this is well above par and is fast paced for the first third before settling into that uneasy mode of things aren’t quite right, while the final third develops the mind games.Rated 15, the single disc offers play, scene selection and movie stills [8 basic portraits] Lacking swearing and nudity this is good family viewing with plenty of intense and threatening moments. Bearing in mind it’s four people on a small boat this is very entertaining and gripping, due largely to the general quality of the acing, but it’s the two women who excel in a battle of wills. Tense ending. Easily a ***** view for a 15 rating [although there are some obvious flaws] but relies on atmosphere rather than gore and it’s one you need to watch, not talk over or the tension will be lost.

Terrific TV thriller
This is a real nailbiter of a thriller, Jackson and Welsh pick up lost (in more ways than one) hippie couple Greenwood and Rowan out at sea - they should not have done that. This is an exciting suspenser from start to finish, so instead of telling more of the story I'll just say that it's not often you find TV movies these days worthy of much praise, but this one is. It's basically just four actors on a boat and the acting is excellent all-round, especially the manic Greenwood is terrific. I honestly say it's a better film than the similarly themed, and more known, movie "Dead Calm" (1989). 5 stars out of 5, and at this price it can't be beat. Unlike Jackson and Welsh and "hitch-hikers", you shall not regret picking up this DVD.

better left as a memory.
I used to watch this film as a kid when it was on TV, sound on low, as to not wake mum. It was and still is a bit of a nail biter, and it has that wonderful 90's TV movie feel that you just don't get anymore. The ending however is a bit rushed and an anti climax, but still worth a watch. The transfer quality is terrible, it looked better on my old analogue 14 inch tv.
