Kuhn Rikon Quick-Slice Mandoline with Stainless Steel Blades and Hand Guard, Red

Being the first mandolin I have ever bought, I went for this model as it seemed a relatively basic model and was reasonably priced.I bought it primarily to cut thin even slices of potato and onion for when making a Spanish tortilla. I have over the years spent an age slicing, by hand, whole potatoes and onions for this dish. The mandolin does the job in a fraction of the time and, as long as you use the supplied holder, safely as well. The bottom end of the slicer has a rubber foot across it's width making it stable to use on an appropriate (eg.worktop/plate) surface but not on a wooden or similar chopping board as it doesn't grip. It is sturdy in build, the blades are sharp and it's very easy to clean. One plus that the ad doesn't mention is that it is supplied with a cover that clips over the blades when not in use making it safe to store in your kitchen drawer.Obviously no idea how long the blades will stay sharp, only time will tell.I have had a play and tried various soft fruit and veg, tomatoes etc and a lemon, all of which were dealt with easily and quickly.On first use, very pleased and a good buy for me.

For the price, this is a very decent mandoline. The slices come out a fairly reliable size, although if you're looking for wafer thin this probably won't be fine enough for you. Great for slicing potatoes dauphinoise style, onion and cabbage for thin cut coleslaw, courgette or cucumber for salad and much more. If you're not prepared to watch what you're doing so you don't lose a fingertip, don't bother buying a mandoline. This one is no more or less safe than any other, and comes with a handy guard which (naturally, as veg sizes and textures vary so much) will fit many but not all of the things you want to slice. A slight technique is needed in holding this and pushing your vegetables through the blade. Again, this is to be expected with any mandoline and it's easy and quick to work out. So, if you're looking for a reasonably priced and functional mandoline, this should do the trick.

Got this for my boyfriend. He uses it every single day and he loves it. It's sharp and the slices are even. Love it.

The slices are quite thick and no way of adjusting. Too thick for potato gratin.

The slicer was very easy to use and made short work of the food preparation with the added benefit of the safety gripper. Good value for money in comparison with other mandolines considered,

bit to unstable to use .. and hard to push the veg over it as you have to hold it to tight

marvellous for all manner of coarsely grated fruit and veg. It is, however, VERY VERY SHARP so I bought kevlar gloves to wear when using it and have not grated my fingers since! I use this as a substitute for the ubiquitous spiraliser as it is easy to store, easy to clean and very quick.

Use the holder when cutting fruit or veg or you will cut your fingers. The blade is very sharp. There is a cover for storage which is an important safety feature where there are children around.Works well when used on a flat surface.

I have owned several of these over the years. They slice really well and last (stay sharp) for ages. Very happy with this brand.

C'est pas mal, mais j'avoue que je m'attendais à beaucoup mieux mais peut être me faut t-il la tester encore pour trouver le tour de main

Nachdem ich mich Jahre geärgert habe über eine 'verwinkelte' Reibe und einen kaum zu reinigenden Festhalter, habe ich diese Mandoline entdeckt. Beidseitiges Schneiden, wunderbar schnell und gleichmäßig, ein Klingenschutz für die Aufbewahrung, ein gut zu reinigender Restehalter - und dazunoch eine schöne, halb transparente Farbe und eine Gummi-Aufstoßkante. Alles überzeugend.

Lo quería para cortar patatas a la hora de hacer una tortilla de patata y una vez probado debo decir que estoy encantada con el producto. Corta bien, no pesa nada, es chiquitito para guardarlo en cualquier sitio y no solo corta fenomenal las patatas sino todo tipo de verduras. Un acierto.
