Great edc/daypack
Update:2 years later and I have nothing but praise for this pack. I love it.I will be adding some buckle straps to the bottom of the pack, mostly to take full advantage of the 30ls.If y’all that call the shots see this; add some straps to the bottom of the pack! The 1st time I got this backpack was at Walmart. I liked that one so much I got one direct from the maker. I’m not sure if the ones they sell to Walmart are seconds, but the one I got here is far better made.Very comfortable. Very roomy. Pretty lightweight. Everything you might want in a daypack/edc bag.And you really can’t beat the company’s guarantee.

My new favorite bag!
I don't know if I carried this bag or the bag carried me. I had this on my back every day of my 14 day road trip. I property planned and pack over cautiously and this bag had room for everything. I had a water bladder for hiking, i had a bandana for keeping cool and water bottles in the side pouches for wetting it, a towel for going swimming, a first aid kit which got used, a flash light, a head lamp, a pocket knife, a multi purpose knife, a battery back up for our phones, i hung a hiking stick off the back of the bag as well as a machete. This bag was able to hold all that and more. I'd put maps and hiking guides, souvenirs, and other odds and ends each day in to the bag. At one point I hung a sand board off the bag and hiked up and dunes. This bag shows no signs of trearing or wear. The shoulder straps are very conformable and the belly buckle was adjustable enough to fit my stomach.

Yay Backpacks!
It's not as bright as the picture implies which was a good thing for us. My boyfriend enjoys this brand and his had seen better days. So I got this for him for Christmas since he carries it to work and elsewhere. He loved it. Has tons of space and pockets and cushioned for his laptop. It was a good price for a good quality item.

I have a love hate relationship with this bag...
I've purchased backpacks in the past but they weren't the kind of backpacks to take on a trip. This is my first outdoor backpack I purchased. The two reasons I wanted to get a backpack was for 1) my upcoming trip to Europe and 2) a backpack for everyday use while I power walk across town to work. I made this purchased based on an video review. I was sold. The color was nice, as red is my favorite color. After receiving my bag and checking it over I felt like there was something amiss. The bag felt somewhat tight inside. I thought it might be because the bag has to get some wear and tear to loosen up. I brought it home, showed it to my mother and she wanted one. The one she chose was the Navy blue one. Once we received her bag I noticed a difference. Hers was somewhat bigger and had the room mentioned in the video review. I finally came to the realization that I picked the wrong bag. The two bags are featured together but the is no indication of how large this bag is. I researched the Vortex Daypack coming across the video featuring the Navy blue. So by assuming that the two featured were the same, it was only after they were received that I found out that they were different. The red one is 25L while the blue is 30L. Looking at both images now you can see clearly the 25L, but not so much the 30L. Plus, the 30L only comes in blue which is the downside if you wanted to purchase the bag in red. Which is what I wanted but not what I got.So, the love. Since I can't return the bag, I had to make the most of it. I like the multiple compartments as I'm a sucker for a bag with lots of compartments. There are 3 zipper areas. You can fit quite a bit of stuff in the larger compartment, but it is somewhat snug after a awhile. I tested putting in two small bags, one with portable game systems (DS Lite in red/black Brain Age 2 bundle case, PSP in Logicase, PSP game case, 4 DS slim cases, PSP and DS adapters, 3DS XL and Hori 3DS 24-game case, digital camera adapter, laptop, laptop adapter, snap folder and binoculars. The second bag contained a box of Lattemielle cookies, beef jerky, trail mix 10-pk snacks, and pack of Twizzlers. The second compartment held my digital camera, Seagate mini HD and bill fold. I hadn't even tossed in the travel blankets yet. Considering what I could pack would have worked better in the 30L bag. The bag is well constructed and durable. Shoulder straps are well constructed. The bag also has waist and chest straps for added support (which was something I was looking for in a backpack). My only problem with the strap clips is that they look too flimsy. They're shaped like a pair of scissors and any wrong move could cause breakage. So snap with care. It's a good solid backpack so long as you're not trying to overload it as it has a limit of how much you can fit inside. Mainly because the bag doesn't expand outward as it's 30L counterpart, but it's better than the 15L or 19L that are found in big box stores like Kmart.

Perfect size
Its amazing for the price. Nice pockets, compression, and padding. There also is a Hydration reservoir.ConThe shoulder strap is sowed to each other on the top to act as also a hook. It seems to be the weakest part of the pack and will detach after a short period of time

It was great backpack but it didn't last very long
It was great backpack but it didn't last very long. I used it for school and occasionally hikes. It lasted me about a year before the seams of the straps started to rip and holes wore through on the bottom.

Sturdy backpack
I originally bought this "Outdoor Daypack" as a backpack for school for my teenage son to use on an everyday basis during the school year last year. I had found it in the camping/outdoors section of my local Wal-mart store. Considering how much he overloads it and throws it around, I think it held up very well. When I went to purchase the same backpack for this year, I could only find it on-line. I bought it from Amazon.com and just like last year, I am very happy with it. It is much bigger & sturdier than the regular kids backpacks found in the school supply section. It would be great for camping, hiking, or for school (like we use it). If you didn't treat it like a typical teenage boy, it is durable enough to last more than a year. I would recommend this pack to others and I will look for it again next year when he is a Senior.

not a horrible pack. get what you pay for.
I bought this roughly 6 months ago. Initially I was impressed with it. Came exactly as described. Plenty of room and comfortable. 6 months later I am less impressed. The workmanship is a little shoddy. Seams are starting to fray and come apart. I will keep using while it holds up but I will probably buy 5.11 or condor next time I'm in the market for dayhiker/duty pack.Update: 8/1/16Sent an email to vortex a several months ago regarding the tearing because their warranty states they'd standby and replace their product no matter what and haven't heard back.
