A year and change this unit is still amazing for my crippled leg and lower back muscles. this is a sanity saver for nerve damage, if you can afford it. Buy it.One Week UPDATE:The unit is best used lying down. There is a tendency to get a disconnected lead notice when the pads are not brand new and don't always stick to the skin in a perfect manner. Leg hair does cause this to happen when sitting, and the twitch from the larger muscles in the leg or when on high and it locks out your leg.The programming is what sets this apart from other units, including more expensive unit that I have from a Dr. prescription ($700).Using this for muscle atrophy in my left leg due to spinal compression and it's absolutely working. The muscles are responding to this unit while they absolutely wont during normal (and often intense) exercise.The battery charging feature doesn't always recognize the battery is full and shut off, but just keep it on charge overnight and you can get an entire day's worth of use out of it. My leg is bad enough to have used this 2-8 hours per day the past week with tremendous results. Reduction in weakness and pain, increased size of leg in one week.UPDATE: 2 years of almost daily use, I even removed the gate guard in the bottom to allow it to be plugged in full time without having to recharge it, about 1 year ago. This unit is amazin.Update 2. 6 years of use only had to replace the battery so far. and the battery was only $18 here on Amazon so I got 2. 10/10

I purchased the Compex Sports Elite unit for its multiple functionality. To improve muscle strength in my left leg that had weakened after a pelvic fracture mtn biking a few years ago. I've been using the massage mode on tight muscles in my back and shoulders. TENS mode for knee pain (running, age and meniscus repairs). I've had the Sports Elite unit for 5 days. My leg has noticeable increased strength and endurance during runs. Muscle tightness in my shoulders and back improved after first session on massage mode! (ER nurse). Here's the kicker....my knees have improved mobility, less creaking and pain. Yipppeeee!! So happy !!The Compex Sport Elite unit is easy to set and use. No issues with the unit or electrodes.The Compex website offers awesome information and guides to its use and electrode placements.It works......

Don't think that it is for youth or sport person only.My father is a Marcial art player, just he is 84, but he got some muscle yet his lower part, the foot not strong because his lung no good he don't like walk a lot. But weight exercise he do quite a lot so the upper part of him is good. Now I use this to train muscle of father foot, initially, his foot is so slim, so skeleton feel. Now after using it, could be1. he feel his foot has power, it ecourage him to walk more. Before, some steps he already feel tired, he don't want to execise and the foot get worse development2. the nutrition goes to the foot, now the shape change, no more skeleton, has muscle too!!! I feel relieve.Only attention is, need to address the muscle 's start and end and attach the things. And second attention is when old say not enough, ask him more time if it enough, they not so sensitive sometimes, no harm to put lower then what they want.

I suffer from ciatica. This machine has saved me from pain and from going to the massage therapist and spending thousands of dollars. Works amazing, great value. Will buy again if this machine ever fails. But after years if use, still going very strong! 5 star rating!

Bought this to replace a 15 year old EMS unit I bought when I was a practicing PT (I bought my first one to rehabilitate my low back pain and muscle spasm associated with herniated disc problems). At any rate, I am a fitness buff and age grouper triathalon competitor, and thought this unit would serve dual purposes. For the most part it does. I use the Potentiation settings and the Muscle Building settings for my rehab work; it works just fine. I can't fine tune the ramp times, which makes for some discomfort, but it's tolerable. I do keep in mind that is not what this device was designed for, so that's not the reason for a dropped star. I've experimented with using the device to augment my fitness workouts. For example, set it up on my abs, and did crunches in sync with the device. Really short abs workout resulted in one of the most effected abs sessions I've ever had. The device works, and is VERY WELL constructed. On the other hand I'm not convinced the pads that come with it are. I do like that they attach and rotate with your body movements, this is a great idea. Unfortunately after the second use I destroyed 2 of the pads trying to detach the cables. Considering the expense of the pads, and that they are proprietary to the device, I am immediately in a situation to drop even more money to replace pads that should have lasted my months (if not a year of use if well taken care of). This is the reason for a dropped star. ALL that said, it's a valuable complement to your fitness regimen and recovery. IF you have the money, then it's worth every penny (even more so if you can find it on discount somewhere).

I have only recently acquired the unit. It seems to work well to exercise the Lats. Am am pleased that it works at all considering how poorly the shipping packaging was. It was shipped in a thin postage bag rather than a box that would have protected the manufacturer box. The box arrived slightly damaged. Luckily Compex makes a good box which took the brunt of the abuse from being tossed around during shipping and the unit itself was unscratched.I will come back later and review the unit in more detail once I’ve had a chance to use it a bit more.The unit seems overpriced considering it only allows one to use set programs and not control parameters manually like other comparable units at only slightly higher price ranges, but for beginners it is easy to use.
