Nice, but expensive.
Works great for refining sharp edges on knives, etc.. They're pricy though for sure. I bought these because they are high quality stones. They leave a nice finish. Not sure I would trust less exspencive ones to do the same. If you can afford them go for it. Nice leather storage pouch.

Handy and Quality Made
These ceramic files are just the ticket for serrated edges and other fine work. The ceramic stone that Spyderco uses is of fantastic quality, it cuts very well, indeed. These files are useful for a variety of projects, from breaking a sharp edge on a piece to gunsmithing and plain old knife sharpening. I even use these on manual typewriter parts. Anywhere you might use a hobby file, but would prefer a finer finish, this set is ideal. I use these wet, either with fine oil or water, it helps keep the dross from clogging the pores and I find I can use them for quite a while without them losing bite and without needing to clean them. One note, though not available through Amazon, Spyderco says they issue these in their Medium and Ultra Fine grits, so if you'd prefer those, you might give them a buzz.

Very nice.
Very nice set. The ceramic stones are super hard, and almost polish the blade edge. This is a final step in sharpening, kind of a first polish step, after the coarser stones have evened out the edge. I usually use the slip ( teardrop ) stone and work out the final marks out of the edge. Then I go to the ruby stones, which mirror polish the edge, and finally hit a strop for the end. These stones also work great for gunsmithing applications, as well as other general metal sizing/finishing. Again, sharpening HSS lathe tools, and flycutters, these work excellently.

Trigger Jobs
These worked great for doing trigger jobs super fine edges and different shapes allow you to polish sear surfaces with ease. I would estimate these stones to be roughly 3000 grit abrasiveness. you wont be getting any mirror polishes with it but it will smooth out the surface sufficiently for crisp clean breaks. Nice hard surfaces dont show any wear yet after working on roughly 5 triggers. The leather pouch is a nice touch for keeping them together but wont offer any protection from getting broken. i recommend keeping them in a nice hard box if you dont want them to break.

Complements the sharpmaker wonderfully.
This stone set is fantastic. If you are familiar with the spyderco sharpmaker then these stones are the exact same as the white fine stones. Just smaller. They are perfect for all manor of things. I am very pleased with this to compliment my sharpmaker. In my opinion the kits is absolutely worth the money spent.

great small kit
nice small kit to keep with tools quality is great and several useful shapes to use for many different honing activities. it is from Spyderco so geared to be a knife hone but I purchased for tooling and other uses. I have done a quick touch up on a knife blade as well.

Perfect for odd shaped edges!
I have tools for shaping wood and cutting leather which demand special handling to keep them scary sharp and cutting cleanly and with ease. These ceramic stones do not fill all of my needs, for sharpening odd shaped cutting profiles, but they are a sure start to increasing my level of sharpening for a professional look on leather and wood! I also own a full set of Spyderco bench stones and would not know what to do without them for all of my flat edged tools! They put a final touch on plane irons, flat chisels, and a variety of leather working flat edged tools the likes of which I couldn't duplicate with similar domestic or imported water stones of the finest grits available today.
