Replaced stock worn out hood liner.
Installed this under the hood on my 2013 Chevy sonic. It seems and feels really durable but only the test of time will determine if it is so. Other than the price which i think is a bit high, I’m happy with my purchase. Oh and it is extremely sticky so make sure you move slow and don’t accidentally stick it where you don’t want it.

Easy Install
Great product - easy install - once in place it really sticks so I hope it holds up under the heat. Here's what worked for me - I cut out a paper template for each section (My under hood has 3 sections - V12 Jag XJS) then transferred to the Pad and cut out the pad. Then I removed about a 2" strip of the paper backing covering the sticky side down the center. Once I got the pad in positioned I stuck it in place using only the 2" center part. - then I could re-position it as needed to fit the top and sides, reached underneath and pulled the sticky paper cover off from the center toward the edges and smoothed it out as I went. Before that I took the cut out pads to my upholsterer and had him sew an edging on each pad in a color that matches my car.Needed two orders for the whole hood - but I probably would need only one for my other cars.Good Luck

Works perfectly but expensive
Does the job but small amount for very expensive price. Pictures shows the small quantity supplied. And the small engine cowling of my inboard jet boat. Not enough to do entire small engine cover I was forced to buy a second roll to complete the project. Expensive but works perfectly and has substantially made the motor noise quieter so 4 stars for me. If they supplied larger quantity or was less expensive I would have easily gave 5 stars.

This does the job. great product.
Great product. I used this material to replace old insulation on the engine cover of my class A RV. It appears the original insulation was this same stuff, except it was 12 years old. After installing this insulation we traveled about 3000 miles and noted two major improvements First, the road noise was dramatically reduced, and second, the engine cover had no heat rise that we could feel. A small area that I could not reach to install the new material had a noticeable heat rise. When you install this stuff make sure the surface is clean and grease free, if you do this place it correctly the first time because it will not come off. As a side note, I covered the edges with metal tape to reduce wear on the foam. I purchased tape with the insulation, and it did not stick worth a hoot, but I used Home Depot heater duct tape and it worked great. This product is the real thing.

Makes a difference
Good stuff for the price. Used this on my 2002 Sequoia to dampen the engine noise just a bit. The product is exactly as pictured. Stick on one side and foil mesh on the other. My engine doesn't have a foam insulated cover like it's fancier Land Cruiser and Lexus cousins, so there is a bit of noise transmitted into the cab. This muffled it a bit which is exactly what I was after. More on the firewall might help too.Things to know. Edges are exposed foam, so a heat resistant tape is a good idea. I bought a roll that was suggested by amazon. This prevents the foam from soaking up water like a sponge. Initially I was disappointed that they didn't seal the edges of this boom mat, but I got past that. After all, you probably will have to cut and trim it anyway to fit your particular hood. For what it's worth though, it fit perfectly under the hood of a 2002 Toyota Sequoia. No trimming required.

Returned or old product??
Ordered this to finish a job lining a boat I/O engine compartment with FatMat as FatMat was out of stock. Received with approximately 5-6 inches of the backing paper torn off two corners exposing the adhesive. Adhesive was not as good as FatMat. Material is not as flexible as FatMat. Product was acceptable but overall preferred the FatMat product.

Good adhesion and heat protection
I priced around for heat protection products for my 1996 Rover where the hood insulation was falling apart and sagging on my engine and causing damage to the outer paint. I found this product which seemed to give me the the highest degree (F) for the price. It seems to be working . Feeling the hood after a drive its noticeably cooler to the tuch. In addition to the insulation i used heat resistant metallic tape to insure good adhesion around the edges. The product has strong adhesive so try to get it in place correctly the first time. It's a little hard to get it to fit nicely around irregular surfaces but other than that I am happy with the results.
