Also works with original NES, NES-101, and Famicom AV!
Tried this on my original 1989 Genesis, but I got no power. But then I remembered that the original Genesis AC adapter could also be used with the original NES, so I decided to test this on my Famicom AV which I bought for dirt cheap without an AC adapter. After hooking up the multi-out AV cable and this AC adapter into my Famicom AV, I turned on the power and BAM it works! So it's clear that my Genesis is non-working, but this AC adapter breathed new life into my Famicom!

Even though this one works fine, I wish it was even closer in spec ...
I thought it was some kind of cruel joke when I received this in the mail. The box and adapter state it was only AC IN = 100V-240V DC OUT = 8.5V/1000MA instead of 120V 10V/1.2A which is what the model 1 adapter is supposed to be rated for. I was about to return it out of frustration for the amazon listing describing the product incorrectly as 120-240V, but I decided to try it anyway. To my surprise it actually worked flawlessly. The previous adapter I had was also a retrobit ac adapter, albeit a universal one, but it was under-powered resulting in a constant humming and video banding while using the console. That one was 110V in 9V/850A out, so the Amp was a bit further off from what is needed compared to this one. Even though this one works fine, I wish it was even closer in spec to the original instead of feeling like a guessing game seeing which adapter is right. I do appreciate how much smaller the brick is to the factory one.

Retro-Bit isn't exactly a great company for modern alternatives enhancing retro gaming
I bought this in a pinch.Retro-Bit isn't exactly a great company for modern alternatives enhancing retro gaming, BUT, this product really does do a great job. You see, the official Sega Genesis 1 AC Adapters are quite pricey, and this one was the only one I could find in order to power my gift-given system in time! That's right, I bought this for my cousin's birthday present, which was a spare Sega Genesis. Don't even bother getting that other 3-in-1 power adapter, (the one that splits to the SNES and NES). THAT one as it turns out does not work AT ALL with a Genesis 1. I had to learn that the hard way. Anyway, the quality is good, with a small power box, and it doesn't get hot at all when keeping it hooked up 24/7. My only complaint would be that the cord may be a little short, but still, I would be really desperate to buy an official, original $20 AC Adapter!

Didn't work for my Genesis
Didn't work for my Genesis. The end fit the socket in the back of the console, so I grafted it onto a different power supply. A test light showed that it (the power supply) was functioning, so I'm not sure if the polarity was wrong or if it just didn't have enough voltage, but it most certainly didn't work right out of the box.

Not as described
I was sent a 3 in 1 adapter which are inferior to the solo AC plugs. Tricked into this.

I bought two of these, one for the Genesis ...
I bought two of these, one for the Genesis and one for NES. Tested both when arrived and each worked for the respective systems. I've used one of them (on NES) frequently for a few weeks and no problems at all. These were just what I needed.
