Great Flavor
We have two gluten-free people in our household, so we are always trying out new pastas to find something that really like. The instructions that are on the package are in Japanese, so I had to go back and look at the Amazon page to figure out how to fix them, but it was so easy - basically the same as cooking wheat noodles: add the package to boiling water and cook for 5 minutes.I followed the directions, and the noodles turned out perfectly! My husband and daughter were a little surprised at the translucent color of the noodles but tried one by itself and really liked the consistency and really didn't taste any flavor. The package said that it makes 1.5 servings, but I would say that it made 2 oversized portions - and the pasta and meat sauce was our main dish. If it was a side dish, I would say this would net 4 good sized portions. Since we have tried other gluten-free pasta, I was curious as to how these compared to the others, and my husband said these were the best - no questions. These noodles had the consistency of wheat noodles, with just the right texture and chewiness. We highly recommend them!

Good-quality, genuine Japanese glass noodles
These are good-quality, genuine Japanese glass noodles, a.k.a. harusame in Japan. This pack is a Japanese domestic product, in Japanese only but has a English product label on the back. The noodles are about 7" long and made from potato starch and corn starch. They are easy to prepare. Simply boil in water for 5-6 minutes. Once cooked, they have a translucent appearance, almost glass-like, and a nice, chewy texture. They are great in hot pots as well as served cold in salads. This pack contains 1.5 servings, with each serving containing 48g of carbs, 1g of fiber, 20mg of sodium and 200 calories. No fat and no sugar. They are also free of gluten, egg and diary. Mine has an expiration date of 19 months from now. Product of Japan (obviously). The price is a little high but the quality shows. Overall, I really like these a lot. Good texture and delicious in hot pots.

Terrible vendor
The vendor is terrible! I love this product but they only sent me 2 out of the 20 I ordered. No reply to my many attempts to reach them

Too expensive
Good glass noodles. I put them in a soup. Easy to cook and had a good chewy texture. Like most glass noodles, they don't absorb much flavor so it's good to have a soup or plenty of sauce. Made in Japan. Package has only Japanese writing, no English instructions. This package is very small - one bowl of noodles. The current price is $6.99. That is way too expensive for such a small package.

Good Chew, Very Mild Flavor - Better Alternative than Shirataki Noodles
If you're looking for a noodle that offers a nice chew, but doesn't include gluten, the Malony Japanese Glass Noodles are a great option to consider. Unlike Shirataki Noodles, which have a slightly crunchy and almost rubber band like texture, glass noodles have a much more pleasant texture and a slight "chew" to them. They also don't have much flavor, so they take in flavors from broths very well - these are definitely NOT a substitute for wheat based noodles used in Italian cooking. These noodles work well in mild broths and are very similar in texture to yam or mung bean noodles - the type used in japchae. The noodles cooked up fairly quickly and didn't require any rinsing or straining - I cooked it directly in broth with great results. The only gripe I have about these particular noodles is the price. At nearly $7 per little pack, I'm not sure I would buy these often. Overall, these are a great quality noodles that are worth trying out if you want a healthy alternative to wheat based noodles.

Makes a great tasting meal, and it's a little different.
These Japanese Glass Noodles arrived yesterday and I already had a menu planned, using them - a Stir Fry meal. My recipe included putting the dry noodles in a heat proof large bowl and pouring boiling water over, and letting sit about 10 to 12 minutes. Drain and cool down with ice water to stop any further cooking. (there are no instructions in English on the bag - the internet is a good source) My stir fry was just with vegetables, no meat this time. It included the usual, with onion, red bell pepper, carrot, garlic, green onion, mushrooms, broccoli, beansprouts, bok choy, peas, ginger, sesame oil, along with soy sauce, fish sauce, a bit of corn starch mixed with some chicken broth, then after everything is cooked and sauce is slightly thickened, it's all tossed with the drained Glass Noodles for a tasty and colorful meal. We also like to add those crunchy hard noodles on top of each helping. This type of meal can be whatever you want, using what your family likes and whatever added meat you might prefer. Stir Fry is only one way these noodles (made of mostly potato starch) can be prepared.
