I've made my peace with the many imperfections.
I think I’ve made my piece with these. You get what you pay for and they are what they are. They are not “silk” but polyester with a plastic feel that is typical of the cheaper versions of that fabric. They are NOT handmade and arrive just as the image shows with loose threads unraveling at the ends and weaving variations throughout. Mine, however, also came with a variety of debris mixed in and dirty marks in several places. On one scarf someone had taken a faint blue maker and written the numbers 3 221 3 and a script below that looked like Emns2. I contemplated sending the whole lot back but decided in the interest of science and consumer information to try washing one. I elected to machine wash it on a delicate cycle. I figured I’d probably ruin it which was pretty much true. The marker did not wash out and the fabric further unraveled and pulled open in numerous locations. These scarves are used as offerings to holy beings and to wrap around holy objects and I was initially appalled at the idea of offering a cheap, dirty, falling apart piece of fabric. Upon reflection, however, I’ve made my peace with them. I haven’t done an exhaustive search, but I’ve looked at others and they all seem to be made about the same. In the end there is something pleasing about everyone offering the same thing. After all this should not be about who can offer the most beautiful precious scarf. It is about motivation and intention. Offer these with all the respect, love and compassion in your heart and with all the best wishes for all sentient beings. If you do that then you can’t go wrong. And in a way aren’t they symbolic of life? It too unravels and constantly changes and, yes, it’s perfectly imperfect and a little “dirt” sometimes gets mixed in.

Good khatas for a good price
Purchased these to take to an event where a senior Tibetan Buddhist teacher would be present, and a traditional offering ceremony would be held. These are pretty nice khatas for the price, with an attractive design of the eight traditional symbols. They arrived well-packaged and in excellent condition, but had been folded flat for some time, and needed to be ironed before use. Unlike some others sold in bundles, these were nice and long, and made a beautiful presentation for the ceremony.

Lovely
Quickly delivered, product as advertised, in clean new condition. These are offering scarves (katas) not intended for wear or other purpose. As such they are perfect & very reasonably priced. The 8 auspicious symbols subtly worked into the fabric make these very suited for Tibetan Buddhist ceremonial offering without being overly flashy or cheap. They are given to the Lama (who often in turn regift them right back) and placed on altars or draped on thangkas paintings or photos.

Just what I wanted
After returning from an incredible trip to China where I ate several times in Tibetan restaurant where guests were welcomed by being given a prayer scarf, I wanted to host a traditional Chinese meal at my home and share my photos and stories. I found these scarves and welcomed my guests with them.

Excellent
I purchased these as an offering after receiving teaching from my guru. I was pleased with the quality and felt good about offering the khatag to my guru as a result.

Not worth it.
Not what I expected. Extremely thin and easy to be snagged and damaged. Beautiful design. Just wish the fabric had been better quality.

Treat gently
Very delicate... Easy to snag and pull threads to make holes, But beautiful if you treat it gently.
