Depending on how big the books are it is possible. I would suggest if you are carrying heavy big books like history and science maybe only adding one reading book and the sketch book though.

Depending on the size of the books. Because I had a calculus textbook that was at least 500 pages (probably more) and I do not think this bag would handle it. But it also matters how well kept the bag is because I have had bags that have broken under the weight I put into them. This bag seems to be well made to withstand at least 25 lbs. I think it may fit one book, but it is also worth considering potential back issues from carrying too much weight as well.
