Great headlamp!
Let me start by saying, I have several head lamps from several different manufacturers - and I like this one the best! I have some that are "rated" to put out more lumens, but, they are not necessarily better. This Petzl lamp puts out the most "usable" light, in a great flood pattern, with very few dark spots, or excessive bright spots - which in the end, I found to be the most valuable as an 'all around headlamp'.This lamp works great for biking and jogging, that's probably were it excel's best. I tend to use mine more when I am working on projects with tools, and I need more light. It's vastly superior to a flashlight, in that it automatically points where ever you are looking, and it's hands free (of course, if you are trying to talk to someone you will blind them if you look at them - that is the one draw back to these kind of lamps). This headlamp uses common size batteries (pretty important, I have a nice Fenix light that takes the CR123A batteries, which are expensive and somewhat hard to find in a pinch) and this Petzl headlamp has excellent battery life!Another very nice feature is that you press the button once for on (high setting), and after a few seconds it is set so the next button push is off. Compare that with some of the older models and different brands that you have to push the button 4 or 5 times to go throught the different brightness scales and the flashing mode to get to the off position. If you did want to use one of the lower power settings, you just push the button 2, 3, or 4 times when you first turn it on, get to the setting you want - then after a few seconds of use, it reverts back to the next button push is off. You may be thinking to yourself, "big deal", but I think you will find that this is a pretty nice feature. With my older lamps, I hated scrolling through all those modes everytime I want to turn it on and off.Personally, I find the red lens valueless. I am sure there is someone that finds the red lens valuable, when they are hunting, or other such thing. But for a city guy like me, I just don't have a need for it, so I just leave it down and out of the way. However, I will mention that it works fine, just like it is supposed to, no sticking or problems with the lens, and it does a good job, exactly as you would expect. The shipping for this product was good, timely (fast, 2 days), and the package arrived in perfect condition as did the products inside the package.I have no complaints. I am confident when I say, that if you take everything into consideration - brightness, battery life, easy of use, reliability, quality of light, number of dark spots, size of flood illumination, comfort of the strap, the fact that it uses common every day batteries -- all of the little nuances and add them up -- you will find that this is, if not the best headlamp out there today, it is certainly in the top 3.

Is it Good for Runners?
I've only had a chance to use the Tactikka Plus on one 6 mile run. So far I like it very much. It's very lightweight, comfortable and stays in place. Some of the roads I run on are very well lit while others are almost completely dark. I wanted a light that was bright enough for me to see in the dark places even after my eyes had adjusted to the street-lit areas. The packaging for mine did not have the "80% Brighter" sticker that I have seen on similar new Petzl equipment so I wondered if it was going to work well for me. It did. Even at the low setting it was bright enough for me to see potholes and dips in the road. The light covers a wide area and reaches far enough in front that I don't "outrun" it. The switch is easy to use. The adjustable angle housing is essential for dialing in exactly where you want the light pointed without having to hold your head at a weird angle. The headband does soak up sweat and it did take a few hours to dry out. I don't know if anything can be done to improve this.Overall, I would recommend it to others. I would also check out the Princeton Tec Quad. It looks to be nearly identical but it is cheaper. It trades the flip up red lens on the Petzl for a waterproof housing.*** UPDATE ***I've now had this headlamp for 5 months and use it many times per week. Everything I liked about it initially I still like. For no apparent reason the lamp now will not turn off. Instead it goes into an ultra dim mode that you may not notice at first but continues to drain the batteries. I have not dropped or physically damaged the light. I've tried new batteries twice. Then I sent the lamp back to Petzl at my expense for their review. Customer service was excellent and prompt. They sent me a new lamp but unfortunately it is a Tactikka instead of a Tactikka Plus which means it only turns on or off. This is a shame because I use the lamp almost exclusively in the low setting. While my old lamp was being evaluated I used a Princton Tec Fuel. Unfortunately for Petzl even though this lamp has only three LED's it is an improvement over my Tactikka plus in every way except comfort. It is only slightly less comfortable to wear and the flood pattern is better (it has more of a spotlight in the center with a wider flood light on the sides). I ended up never using the red flip up filter on the Tactikka Plus because I wanted to make sure oncoming traffic could see me easily. I'll be using the Fuel instead of the Tacktikka now.

Great head torch
After using Petzi head torches before, my last one lasted ages and apart from a crack in the casing, it has been on many a camp. However it appears to have taken legs and walked. It resided in the car except when camping /walking, and I decided that the compact design and reliability from the previous head torch made it a choice. Light beam is very good for walking, and light enough in weight not to be noticed. Previous model batteries lasted ages so I expect this to be similar. Cheaper head torches around, but usually bulkier and heavier. It is, however, more expensive than others, so I hope it will be as long lasting.

Ideal red light for night photographers.
Pretty straight forward this review about the Petzl headtorch. I bought this because I wanted a light that wouldn't ruin my night vision & having the red filter does just that. Several torches that i've tried before have both the white & red illumination but you have to "click" though the white lights before getting to the red light & by that stage your night vision has been obliterated. This torch has a red filter which you draw down over the white LED's which means you can turn the device off & on as many times you like & keep it red or just flip the filter up & hey presto you're back to dazzling white LED's. Pressing the on/off (it only has 1 button) button will take the torch through various strengths of illumination along with a "flashing" choice just before you press again to turn it off. I would've given it 5 stars but it's very pricey IMO & could be worth while shopping around for a better deal. The headband is elasticated & adjustable, nothing much more to add there..... oh & it's black.

Perfect for astronomy
The description isn't that clear but this was just what I wanted. The "green" in the title refers to the colour of the body/strap which is a dusky grey-green camouflage pattern. (Why you would want to camouflage a torch I don't know). As the picture shows (but the description doesn't explicitly say) this is a white light headtorch with a fold down red filter. Thus is it perfect for astronomy as you can set the red light without going through white light options that make you lose your night vision. Also, the three brightness available work for both the filtered red and the unfiltered white light. It runs off 3 AAA batteries (Duracel ones included)The long quoted delivery times made me apprehensive about where this was coming from. Actually it is dispatched from France so you are covered by the EEC regulations and there is no danger of customs duty. Despite the estimate of delivery times of up to 3 weeks it was delivered on Wednesday having been ordered on Sunday with a bank holiday in between. It isn't cheap but it is good quality and just what I wanted.
