I had a difficult time getting use to the left ...
I had a difficult time getting use to the left (front chainrings) shifter as it clicks more than the amount of chainrings I have. Overall, I got it to work though.

but I've been really happy with them
I bought these to replace a set of 3x8 Sora brifters that had been on my Dawes Horizon for about ten years, and that failed finally on a long tour to Idaho. The Soras had a thumb lever on the side, so it was impossible to shift in both directions from the drops. Replacing them was part of a cunning long-term plan to replace my Horizon completely without ever buying a whole new bike... ;-) In a bid to keep it as cheap as possible, I decided to stick with the existing Sora triple crankset and 8-ring cassette, which narrowed my options to these or else Shimano Sora or Claris. These were cheaper and, IMO, a lot less ugly than either Shimano option.Ordering from Canada meant they did take about a month to get here (stupid border), but I've been really happy with them. The lever shift is shorter/better than the Soras, and the other paddle - tucked in just below the shifter body - is easy to use from the hoods. It's a short reach from the drops, though, and notably clunky when operating the front derailleur (the original Dawes Sora unit, on my bike), so the shifting is nowhere near as sweet and snickety as the Ultegra brifters on my road bike - but they're also about 1/10 of the cost. I also think they look very nice indeed on my new All-City Space Horse frame (metallic green with white socks) with flared Salsa handlebars and brown leather-look bar tape: a bit industrial, but not honking ugly like the Clarises. So - a good deal for nice brifters.

microShift is the best choice
Even if I had the money to spare for the OEM replacement I'd go with microShift.
