Unsatisfactory
When I received my Dell XPS 17 9700 laptop I felt like a kid on Christmas morning (purchased through Dell). Unfortunately, that excitement has since turned into disappointment. First, the “cutting-edge” Killer WI-FI 6 stopped working. And in spite of following the recommended “router restart” and the “clean install” instructions, it’s still dead-in-the-water. My go-to WI-FI is now an external USB adapter. Next, the keyboard lights switch off whenever I receive a Windows Update. This fix involves accessing the BIOS to remedy the problem, only to have them turn off again on the next update. The third issue I’m having with my XPS is with the System Restore. It’s grayed out. In a nutshell, it’s unavailable. There are several suggestions on how to fix the problem on the internet and I’ve tried a handful with no luck. A mere internet search tends to support these are not isolated issues to my specific XPS. To sum it up, with video conferencing being the new norm, the WI-FI issue is the deal-breaker. When you consider the XPS is Dell’s flagship laptop, to say it’s unsatisfactory is putting it mildly. UPDATE: Still no change 7-10-2021. UPDATE 2: It’s now Nov 2021, and with the holidays around the corner, my wife’s been using the XPS for her baking recipes. After roughly two hours of off-and-on viewing of her recipes (on MS Word), the Low Battery light appeared. Huh.

BATTERY DOES NOT LAST AS SUGGESTED
The battery duration on full charge is terrible - about 2.5 hours (non 4K) on youTube videos. The one I purchased was with highest config available (64GB RAM, 4K TOUCH, 2X2 TB SSD....)Further I purchased the Precision Workstation version (Nice color).Because I purchased Multi year onsite pro support from DELL, I am waiting for them to sort this out. The call has been opened for weeks, they have changed the mother board and battery. If they get the battery autonomy improved to even 6 hours, my company has a customer for about 100 of theseIt could have been the BEST 17" Laptop ever!!!!! What a shame!
