Waterproofed from the inside out, the Waterfi Shuffle allows you to do away with bulky and unreliable cases. Bring your favorite music with you wherever your active life takes you: be it the ocean, pool, gym, snow, or rain. Now, our second generation technology is better than ever. Along with Apple's release of eight new colors, Waterfi introduced Dual Layer Technology, an all new waterproofing process that is designed to meet the high standards of durability and reliability you expect. Dual Layer Technology protects the Shuffle in harsh environments and lasts longer than older technology. view larger New Technology Our Process Waterfi's new Dual Layer waterproofing technology uses a proprietary, two-step process to make the Shuffle shockproof, waterproof, and corrosionproof. The first step fills the Shuffle with a rubbery, waterproof/shockproof insulator that forms a thick and protective barrier around all the sensitive electronic components on the inside of the device. With the Shuffle completely filled, the second layer is applied to enhance the waterproofing and protect the Shuffle from threatening chemicals and environments such as oceans, pools, baths, and hot tubs. Throughout this process, the iPod is never opened up, and Apple's factory seal is left intact. Waterproof and Corrosionproof During the waterproofing process, all the electronic components are sealed with a thick inner layer that creates a strong waterproof seal that protects the Shuffle as deep as 100 feet underwater. The second layer fills the remaining space inside the Shuffle and insulates the electronics up to 40,000 volts to prevent any short circuits caused by water. Shockproof Waterfi's new Dual Layer Technology takes one more worry off your mind. The thick and rubbery first layer serves as a cushion that protects the electronic components from shocks cause by drops, intense vibrations, and even a washing machine. New Look view larger The popular Apple Shuffle is available in a wide array of colors. These Shuffles are exactly the same in form and function as the earlier model, but now come in a variety of fun new colors: slate, blue, green, pink, purple, red, silver, and yellow. Comfortable Design Unlike the many inconvenient waterproof cases available, the Waterfi waterproof technology keeps the Shuffle lightweight and compact. The Shuffle's built-in clip lets you enjoy your music everywhere you go, without relying on uncomfortable straps. Just clip the player to your goggles, wet suit, waistband, shirt, sunglasses, or anywhere else, and you'll be ready to hit the water. Simple Controls Just One Click Whether you're running, surfing, or swimming laps, the Shuffle is easy to control on the go. With a single click, you can change tracks, adjust the volume, or play/pause the current track. The simple design makes it quick to find the button you want, so you can focus on your workout. VoiceOver The advanced VoiceOver feature on the Shuffle helps you find the songs you are looking for quickly and efficiently. When the VoiceOver button is pressed, the Shuffle will read out loud the names of the song and artist. You can also use the VoiceOver feature to navigate between playlists you create on iTunes and check the battery status of the iPod. Sync with iTunes Waterfi Shuffles are genuine Apple iPods that have been sent through our proprietary waterproofing process. Headphones didnt work
The headphones didn't work out of one ear and didn't stay in my ears as soon as I started swimming. I contacted Waterfi support a couple times to see if I could return the headphones but keep the iPod. After a couple attempts over the course of a week and no response, I have no other option than to return the whole package (headphones and iPod) and purchase a new iPod through another provider. (I've already purchased headphones from someone else and LOVE them.) I'm not happy because this puts more work on me, the customer, but a company that cannot return support emails does not earn my business.

Great product that gets me through long swim workouts
I purchased this three years ago and finally feel it is time to provide a review. I have used this at least 2-3 times per week to swim (around 2-4 km each time) for the past three years (some weeks none, some weeks five times). And I have had few to zero issues with the device itself. It took some time to figure out the best configuration, including for the headphones. But once I figured it out, it has worked really well.I replaced the headphones once last year (I think around $12, so very reasonable) after one went out. I rarely use any of the top buttons and opt to just listen to a mix of random music and magazine articles while I swim rather than trying to deal with multiple play lists. (When I first purchased, I seemed to have issues with switching among playlists -- although I'm not sure whether that was just user error or something caused by the waterproofing.)My one complaint, which they may have rectified since I purchased, is the headphones come with a really long cable that needs to be wrapped around the goggle straps. It works but a shorter cable would also do the job.Overall a great product. This was my third music player for swimming but the first that I was satisfied with. I sometimes swim for 90 minutes without any adjustments whatsoever.

The best thing for swimmers since lycra
So a little background, I swim between 3-5 miles a week and I found I hit a plateau swimming because I was bored. I heard about this ipod from a triathlete friend so I ordered it. It is fantastic. Right out of the package it synced with my mac computer with no problem, and I was able to load playlists on it. Then, to the pool I went. Having awesome music in my ears changed my whole workout and I am excited every day to get in the pool. The few tips I would add is that I was having trouble keeping the ear bud in one of my ears. The set comes with different sized ear buds and I found that one of my ear canals is smaller than the other so I put a small earbud on one side and a medium one on the other and voila, problem solved. So you might have to play around with the earbud size. This thing is so great, I now run with it because I don't have to worry about it raining on my iphone. I can just throw it in my work bag and not worry that it will get damaged with spilled coffee or something. Also, I recommend adding just one playlist to it. You can switch between playlists but I found that difficult in the pool, so I merged all my music to one playlist and I can skip tracks easily with the buttons on the front. If you're a swimmer (or a clumsy girl who might spill coffee on her electronics like me), buy this ipod!

Makes swimming tolerable
I enjoy swimming but after a bit I start to feel a bit bored. Counting laps or forgetting to count as a drift off in thought. All that has changed. Now I actually look forward to swimming as I can catch up on some of my favorite podcasts.Audioquality is good (though frankly I am happy to hear anything while swimming). The only downside to the item may be the headphones. They do have a bit of a learning curve. I have found that using a touch of vaseline (as suggested by Waterfi and some other reviewers) really helps and you have to do some trial and error with the various sizes.Expect that the first couple times you swim, you may need to make some adjustments until you get it right (which is why I did not try to experiment with them till after the workout). After using them twice I am good to go and happy.Only downside is that the right earphone became "less loud" after using them the first time. Contacted waterfi and they sent me a pair (for free) that same day. Pretty great customer service. We will see if the problem recurs (then I may need to adjust the 5 star rating). If you get bored swimming like me and would like to listen to music or podcasts while you swim then THIS is the item for you.

5 for the Shuffle, 4 for the Earphones
As others have stated in their reviews I had issues w the earphones. Their customer service is terrific & they sent me a new set. However even the 2nd pair isn't glitch proof. They explained that if water gets next to the membrane it will cause that earphone to be nonfunctional since the membrane isn't strong enough to vibrate water to make sound. They also emailed me several troubleshooting tips. After some trial and error this is what I have found works best....1.Don't put the earphones in a "airtight" container - like the one that came w your goggles - the small amount of water that gets in needs the opportunity to evaporate.2.After your swim, dry off the earphones to the extent possible. Then get a Ziploc type "Tupperware" container, poke several holes in the lid and put several silica packets that come with electronics or meds into the container. Before using again, plug the earphones into the iPod & turn the volume up to max. Let it play for several minutes. This seems to clear the water from the membrane and then the earphones work well again.3. Use the cone plugs & some Vaseline or Eucerin on the external auditory canals to create a watertight seal. The iPod itself is great - it's been in the water for probably a total of 50 hours since purchase and I've had no issue at all.

Music is quieter than normal, earphones don’t last too long.
I use this product in a chlorinated indoor swimming pool. I swim at least 4 times a week. The music is not as you would expect from normal earphones but is accpetable during the swim. I clip the iPod to the goggles strap. The earphones have short cable, so this is the preferred location. The iPod device lasted just under 2 years but was covered by warranty, so received a replacement refurbished device (had for 6 months now). I think current devices now only come with 1 year warranty. The earphones lasted a few months and needed additional preventative maintenance to keep the useable. I need to dry the buds and earphones after each swim. The earphones lasted around 1 year before I eventually decided I needed to replace them. Replacement cost are prohibitive for earphones, so now purchase other waterproof versions. The support From WaterFi is excellent.I need to wear a swim cap to ensure earphones stay in place whilst swimming. I prefare over ear earphones, but still need to wear swim cap. Based on usage and environment I am happy with the reliability of the iPod.

Not perfect by any means.
This is a mixed review as the performance can be frustratingly inconsistent. The first thing to note is the dramatic difference in quality of sound with the earphones - apple earphones produce the expected level of deep bass and pure sound, I have also tried some different sports earphones with good sound quality but the waterproof earphones have a distinct lack of bass and depth to the sound. This purchase was intended for open water swimming but I doubt I will use it now as it often requires readjustment and refitting during the hour long swim which is ok in a pool but would be a real hassle in deep open water. Constant readjustment is not only inconvenient and annoying but can often lead to discomfort and frustration often leads to pushing the plugs too hard into the ear which can be dangerous. When there is an adequate seal and a comfortable fit the music can relieve the monotony of 60minutes of front crawl but the shuffle aspect means you are at the mercy of the machine and cannot dictate the order of music, in fact it feels as though it positively prefers some tracks and discriminates against others as the 2gb of music selection has not been played entirely whilst selected tracks are repeated frequently.I would love to compare this to other devices but finances don't allow but I am intrigued to compare against devices that resonate through the bone rather than use of conventional earphones as I am sure they will be less hassle and some of the cheaper devices are simple mp3 players which allow you to select music in order of preference.I do enjoy using it when it works well - but there is an element of frustration which I didn't expect from such a distinguished manufacturer and for the cost.

Wonderful Waterfi
Amazing idea - I use mine for Aqua Zumba - the routine is rigorous but my Waterfi stays neatly pinned to my swimsuit. So much better than having my iPod strapped to my arm.The battery life is fifteen hours so I can keep mine in my gym bag for more than a week between charges which is fab.It works brilliantly for swimming too so you can relieve the monotony to swimming lengths, instead of counting down until I could get out I just carry on swimming energised by the music. I'm a water baby but I imagine it works wonders in the Gym as well.So many people are interested in my Waterfi but I'm sure a few people seeing me using one have ruined their Shuffle by assuming that they are all waterproof!!

iPod great, headphones poor.
Difficult to review this because there are two components. The iPod is sound. It works perfectly well underwater 5 stars. The headphones are less good. It's really hard to get them into my ears sufficiently tightly that they will stay fixed in place whilst swimming. I have bought a swimming headband to hold them in place because from what I can tell, no one has produced good waterproof headphones.

Brilliant little bit of kit
Like that the earphones are comfy and come with different sized 'ends' so all the family can use it. Also great that I can simply use my exisitng itunes account rather than have to convert to mp3 which I had to for the previous type of swim music kit I owned. Helps the time to go quicker when lap swimming, although I agree the long wire on the earphones can be a bit of a nusisance to organise! Sound is good, but if swimming really energetically the phones can tend to become slightly dislodged - more an issue of my style or the shape of my ears I think! No issues at all so far - I swim for up to an hour with it on and found it really easy to get started.
