Better safe than sorry
If you live in an area that gets a little or a lot of snow and ice in the wintertime, do the smart thing and invest in a pair of Stabilicers for you and each member of your family. Several years ago, I fell on the ice in the parking lot at work and ended up in Urgent Care, afraid I had reinjured my back. Luckily, I hadn't, but the pain, stiffness, and fear from my fall made me think about trying to find a product to prevent those nasty falls. Well, several winters came and went, and I forgot all about it. Then this winter came and my elderly father, a sprite little 90-year old WWII veteran, fell on the icy sidewalk coming out of church one Sunday afternoon and nearly broke a hip or something worse. I finally said to myself, that is enough taking stupid chances! And I then began my search for some "ice shoes" in earnest. I saw all the good reviews for Stabilicers and thought that they looked like a very sturdy product compared to some of the other ice cleats, so I purchased a pair for my elderly father and a pair for myself. After we received them, I didn't have to ask him twice to put them on. In fact, he seemed eager to try them out and relieved that maybe he could safely walk on the ice now.I have to admit that I bought these very late in the winter season, so we have only had a few opportunities to try them out so far, but I think that this may have been the smartest purchase I've ever made. The steel cleats really bite deep into the ice in both directions, forward and sideways, so there is almost no chance of your feet slipping on icy surfaces. I now have peace of mind for my father's safety as well as my own in the winter, so that alone is worth the price. There are only a couple of things I feel I need to mention to prospective buyers. First, I wear a size 10 shoe (womens) and I bought a size medium according to the sizing instructions. My father and I both had some trouble fitting the medium Stabilicers over our shoes - it was a bit of a stretch - but I think that may end up being a good thing because while a size large might have been easier to put on, it might also make them easier to slip off unexpectedly. So it's probably good if they are a bit snug, but elderly people may need help putting them on and taking them off. The other thing that another reviewer mentioned that I want to really stress is that you really must take them off immediately when you go indoors, especially if there are tiled, concrete, or wooden floors. The steel cleats will slip and slide all over regular floors (not to mention make a LOT of noise) and you really don't want to walk safely on the ice in the parking lot just to end up falling on your butt in the grocery store. So please, be safe and take them off just as soon as you come inside. So far, I think this product is a very sound investment. I should know more once we've used them another winter or two, but just from the small amount of time that we've had them, I would highly recommend Stabilicers. I would also highly encourage everyone to buy a pair for every member of your family, especially your elderly loved ones. These may not be the cheapest ice cleats, but they are very sturdy and well-made. And it's much better to spend a little more money on a good safety product than to spend thousands of dollars on a hospital bill from a nasty, painful fall on the ice.

Well, I think I sold some more of these
My feet swell sometimes to the point I can't get my boots or other heavy gear on. I saw some similar to these at the grocery store last year or before but there was no place to sit down and try them. These from amazon were a bit pricey with the shipping but should be well worth it.Guessed the size right, fit snugly over my favorite leather/lambskin moccasins which are worn thin and slippery. So these will be great, understand that I will have to remove them in the store on hard surfaces or carpeting (they didn't seem to hurt my carpeting just a short trial). They may not fit my 2 pairs of boots as well as they do my moccasins. It is thanks to a particular reviewer who raved about them and convinced me for this brand. Showed them to my friend and she looked them up right away, I said they were out of black my first choice. MADE IN THE USA. She asked about sizing, mine, large, seemed about right for her. I said just order some and if they don't fit use them for a gift and order some more for yourself.I had to use them twice now, make that 3X, once to take out the garbage which stacks up in winter due to ice in the alley, I was still careful but dug in and no slipping. The other was on one of those frozen snow/rain evenings, someone hit my car. It was a total icy mess out there. I put on my stabilicers and was able to walk on the ice, snow take the pictures I needed.Update Jan 11. It is warmer, water, melting, thin ice you can't see, big thick ice, and snow pack out. My car wouldn't start yesterday so when it started this am I thought better get the barest essentials. So I put on my cleats and got gas (bad ice at the pump salt hadn't worked yet), drove thru the pharmacy. When I got home, bad in my street. The poor mailman was coming and said to be careful there are icy spots all over, I've been slipping around all morning. Felt sorry for him. Showed him my cleats, not sure he saw the advantage of them. I am still picking my way a little gingerly because I am older and could still trip and fall. At the gas station the floor was smooth and dry. You cannot walk on smooth tile; I tested it. So I just went around in my stocking feet. You can't do that most places so I will have to slip the cleats off and back on again.I need to carry a 25# cat litter bag in and thought it too dangerous to attempt until the sidewalk dries out. When I was younger, I guess I never thought about some of this stuff, just went ahead and did it. So thankful for them. I drove with them on and did have to be a little more aware to lift my feet higher (5-speed heh), but no problem.

Not being able to return them because the were too small
Not very happy as the sizes were not related to shoe size and if you bought the wrong size which I did and I was not able to reorder a bigger size as they do not allow for returns which I did not see anywhere on their page and they were very expensive I was not very happy and would not recommend them

Very good walking spike with a couple of reservations.
Living in Alberta we get lots of weather where you need these to keep yourself firmly on your feet. These are solid ice cleats and I'm very happy with them. They are for use on city sidewalks and paths, for walking the dog or strolling around the neighborhood. Walking on clear paths is noisy but comfortable (most of the time city paths are partially clear and partially covered with snow and ice.) If you are winter hiking on mountain trails you will want a longer spike. I wear a size 6.5 (ladies) and bought the small for size 4 to 7. I have 2 different pairs of boots, one is more like a shoe and these fit well on them. My other pair is a hiking boot, wider and bulkier. The spike fit but I would be better with the size up, they still work but are a bit tricky to get on.Update: I have had these come off while walking. I'm not sure if it's due to the way they fit, a lack of elasticity in the orange part or that they don't come up far enough. Still a good product but this is a flaw.
