Therm-a-Rest Trail Seat Self-Inflating Seat Cushion

I have back problems that make it necessary for me to have sufficient support whenever I am sitting down. The Trail Seat has become my perfect answer both at home and when traveling. I have three Trail Seats and I use them throughout my day. I have one in each car as my back will not travel without the support it affords. I also have one that I use in the house on various chairs that I require additional support on. This one I also take when flying. When I roll the the air out I can roll it neatly and stuff it on the outside of my carry-on and then inflate and sit in the plane with comfort. I have never had a problem going through the airport screening with it. In addition, on long trips by car or plane it is nice throughout the course of the day to be able to change the amount of firmness by letting some air out or in as needed. When hiking it goes in my pack so that I never sit on hard, damp or rocky ground. The Trail Seat is there to save the day. My only request would be for some less flashy colors as 2 of mine are neon green, but hey they really bring a dimension of comfort into my life that was in very short supply before a friend recommended I get the first one.

I was unsure of how much this pad would really help with comfort on a hard surface as it is only about an inch thick when inflated. What a surprise when I found it to be very comfortable. I can't sit on hard chairs or concrete for long because it affects my back pretty badly. This really does cushion hard surfaces. It does take a bit of time to fully inflate by itself, so I usually give it a couple of puffs myself if I want to use it quickly. Although the air will come back out while trying to inflate it yourself, just hold your finger over the nozzle while you take the next breath. It is a little bulky to carry as it doesn't flatten out completely when deflated but I throw it into a tote bag or backpack and it is fine.

This seat is 13" x 17". I don't know what dimension Thermarest was in when they measured this but it is larger than advertised. Sure, you can overlook this as a small detail but it is kind of obnoxious to those of us who take size and weight constraints seriously. I bought this assuming it would fit in a specific part of my bag, but with the wrong advertised measurements the actual pad did not fit as I expected.I am generally happy with this brand and I also own one of their inflatable mattresses. It reflects body heat well and stays warm, and it could also be kneeled on comfortably.I still like this pad enough to keep it, but I hope Thermarest gets itself together and puts proper measurements on their product's packaging.

My car has a very firm seat, and I don't have much padding. Consequently, I found that I often became sore on long trips. This has effectively ended the soreness. Other notes:Pros: - warms up very rapidly in cold weather- literally in under 30 seconds, faster than seat heater. Then stays comfortable for me. - Probably reduce wear on car seat.Cons: None so far.Notes: - because isn't secured to seat, moves when get in and out of car. I don't find that it moves around when sitting on it. However, depending on how much air is in the pillow, you can "bounce" a bit and "quiver" a bit from side to side. Might feel a bit strange for some. - It does raise you up a bit, I'd guess about 1/2 inch at my inflation. - Moss green is exactly the color shown on the Amazon web site. - I was concerned it might be uncomfortable in hot weather because it doesn't breathe, but that has not been a problem.Overall: extremely pleased after about a year.

I really love the way this therm-a-Rest feels when I sit on it--not so soft that you sink to down to the bare chair, but not hard either--just right! That being said, I can not use it personally myself--my sit-down area is too wide for this pillow! I wanted it for my hard computer chair but it is too narrow and I hang out on the sides of it. If you have a really narrow be-hind, then this pillow will probably work for you in a chair. I have numerous great-grandchildren that come to visit me every summer and they all like to use my computer, so I am going to use this pillow for them when they come. Just because they are kids don't mean that they don't find a chair too hard to sit on either! So this pillow should make the computer chair more comfortable for them. If they ever make this Therm-a-rest pillow in a larger size (measurement wise) I will buy another one because I really loved the way this felt when I sat on it.

I suffer from what can be best described as a lack of a butt. So, with no padding of my own, I have to look elsewhere when doing anything that involves a lot of sitting. Kayaking, which is a very engaged form of sitting, has posed a problem for me. I tried some gel seats and some foam seats. I tried molded seats, shaped plastic seats, hand cut seats, multi-layer composite seats. This Trail Seat has succeeded where the predecessors have failed. I keep it under-inflated by a bit to make it more comfortable and lower my center of gravity by a minute amount. Also, when I pull up on the bank for a meal or to make camp, I also just happen to have a camp seat handy!Mounting it in place was a little tricky. The cover is... cloth-ish...? I don't really know what I'd name it. Adhesives don't play well with it though. I use shock cord connected to small wooden blocks held down to the inside of the cockpit with waterproof Velcro.

then valve doesn't work as well as other thermarest products and the valve leaks so the thermarest cushion expands( in or outside of your rucksack ) as you are walking

Für das geringe Gewicht enormer Komfort. Zusammengerollt ist natürlich immer noch Platz für das Kissen vonnöten, aber dafür wiegt es fast nix. Wenn man die max. Polsterwirkung ausschöpfen will, kann man selbst noch etwas zublasen. Ich habs in grün gewählt weil mir die Farbe gefällt, man es leichter sieht, dann nicht vergißt oder auch leichter findet. Therm-a-Rest-Qualität. Einzig, sollte man darauf achten keine scharfen oder spitzen Gegenstände unter dem Kissen zu haben. Das dürfte aber für alle Preisklassen gelten. Alle Sterne.
