Great for the city and travel...
I work in a major city and have to commute by train. I got really tired of stuffing things in my purse and having it disorganized by the time I got to the office. This bag literally carries everything I could ever possibly need, and it is really sturdy yet comfortable. Here's the breakdown of my typical use...Main compartment: Laptop, notebook, sometimes a textbook.Sunglass compartment: Sunglasses if I carry them (they're fairly large and I was really surprised at how much room there was for them), otherwise I'll throw my cell phone, lip balm, and hand sanitizer in there.Storage compartment: Small bottle of contact solution, travel-size ibuprofen, two tampons, my emergency inhaler, a couple pens, and a small card wallet.Lunchbox compartment: This is was the most pleasant surprise with this bag. It fits a lot more than I thought it would. I'm able to pack a sandwich, a couple of snacks, and a can of soda with a little cooler pack. Two side compartments: Water bottle in one, umbrella in the other.I had purchased a Dakine tote before and loved the quality. This backpack is no exception as I have nothing bad to say about it.

Most Awesome Backpack Ever!!
I don't usually do reviews but the backpack was excellent! Very, very roomy and not at all uncomfortable to wear, even when fully loaded. The MSRP was listed at $55.00, which is crazy low for the superb quality, and the straps are super comfortable and ultra-durable.For comparison as to how good these straps are, my ~$300 something soft briefcase from the Tumi store has straps that absolutely suck!! They're thin and uncomfortable to hold when the bag is empty (it's already a bulky bag), even more so when loaded with stuff like a laptop. This is actually my 2nd Dakine backpack, which was an identical model that was stolen, and I can say hands-down that wear-and-tear was absolutely minimal even after one year of everyday heavy use, as in 10 lbs of a 15.6" laptop and accessories heavy use. That first bag was bought at a Billabong store with an $85.00 price, which was still worth it! Not sure why the price was lowered but even better! If I had a wish list it would be that Dakine would make an equally durable, classy computer brief that I can take to business meetings. I've actually taken this bag to a meeting once, which was a bit awkward to say the least—kind of like showing up to a board meeting in flip flops, but I digress. On a last note, the seller, Nuclear Sporting Goods, was awesome! The order arrived very quick! They charged shipping, sure, but here's the weird thing: of the 3 Amazon.com sellers, 2 of them advertised Free Shipping regardless. But when I added the item in the shopping cart, I got bait-and-switched and was added an $8-9 shipping charge (both sellers had different shipping charges) for regular delivery to Hawaii. What's the deal? But Nuclear Sporting Goods kept the same shipping price and the overall price was lower than any other Amazon.com seller! So for all of you shipping to Hawaii, beware of the not-so-free shipping option!

great stylish bag thats built tough.
This bag is nice! Build quality is perfect. The attention to detail is easily noticeable, and its really comfortable. The front lunch box is big. It actually is bigger than the zipper suggest, so you could fit 2 Pepsi bottles in there. I also like how the laptop part is off the floor of the bag so you don't damage your laptop if you put the bag down. Shipping was fast and I look forward to seeing how it holds up. Thanks.

Great for law school!
I got this backpack for law school and it is great! There is a ton of room for all my giant books. I love the insulated pocket, which I put my lunch it. There are enough pockets to store all my little stuff too. It is comfortable. It is on the larger side, which I need for school, but it does look a little big on me when I have it full, but as I said, I needed the space for all my books. I would definitely recommend this!

Quality Backpack
Dakine always makes really good backpacks and luggage. This backpack is no exception, even though the price is so low. It is comfortable, it has a cooler space, and many other storage slots. The laptop sleeve fits my 15" laptop just fine, but I think any bigger would not work.

Not a good buy.
This backpack is BIG. On an average day, I'll stuff something like my laptop, 2 binders and 3 notebooks into the main compartment, my iClicker, gum, pencils, calculator, and then some into the smaller compartment, my keys in the sunglass part, and maybe a granola bar or water bottle into the insulated pack. I do like the zippers on this backpack, and the outside material is alright. However, even though this thing has a lot of space I can't really recommend it. The outside is not really that high quality, the side pockets are made of that cheap mesh that always gets torn eventually, and the insulated pocket is not really useful at all. The inside material is very obviously a cheap sort of nylon, which has already started to tear a bit, and get worn away. The smaller pocket has pencil holders that aren't actually deep enough to fit a pencil and be able to shut it. The straps aren't that comfortable at all, and there is no lumbar support whatsoever. Overall, I truly can't recommend this backpack. If you do want a good backpack, I have since upgrade from this one and can point you in the right direction! Look at LITERALLY ANYTHING from Jansport, or the Case Logic Berkeley for a standard student sort of look. OR if you want something to get the job done everyday for the next 20 years, get the 5.11 Rush backpack.

Decent backpack
Functional backpack. Only four stars because the middle compartment is pretty useless as its only a few inches deep. Overall though a solid product for my needs.

Good bag that holds up well. This is my second bag from Dakine. The only issue I have had is with the zippers not holding up.
