Expensive, but nice
I got this for my girlfriend as a Christmas present. She drinks a lot of tea and has been using an old no-brand tea kettle for years. I felt like she needed something a little nicer, and this hasn't disappointed. She loves it and has been drinking even more tea since she got it.Overall nice build quality and design. I saw some of the reviews mentioned rust issues, but the inside of the one we received has a black ceramic coating so I hope that it holds up well. It whistles pretty loud, the lid opens easily and it pours well. She said it boils faster than her old one too.

Great Tea Kettle
This tea kettle works as expected. Whistle is loud. The cover fits snug but is easy to remove and put back on. After boiling water the handle is warm to touch but is not hot and I really like that you can open the spout from the handle. It is not very heavy even when filled with water. This is much lighter than my Le Creuset tea pot. Red color is vibrant. Overall I highly recommend.

The last kettle you’ll buy!
I got this kettle for my mom, who is a bit hard of hearing and needs a kettle with a loud whistle. Saw this model at my friends’ house and they recommended it. Yes it is pricey but very good quality, great color, and loud whistle that my mom says you can’t miss. Happy with my investment in her tea drinking!

Super great kettle
Why does this tea kettle gets bad reviews? It’s been really great so far.Heats up to a whistle within 5 mins and I don’t even use the large burner. No signs of discoloration, that’s the only reason I think people may have issues. Also it does not dribble the way I’ve seen it described in other reviews. The only time I noticed that is after I washed it by hand water gets caught behind the ring. But during a pour never yet.Lastly the inside is awesome. It’s basically powder coated so I can’t see it ever rusting. Granted I’ve only had it a month so I guess we’ll see.Buy it. You won’t be disappointed

Favorite Teakettle Ever
This was a replacement for the identical teakettle which sprung a leak after many years of use. It's still just as well made as it was. It's the perfect teakettle. Love the handle with the remote opener so you don't have to get your hands near the spout. The lid fits perfectly. The finish is great. It's pretty much just right.

Would not recommend unless improvements have been made.
I love the look of this tea kettle. It looks beautiful sitting on my stove. When I took the kettle out of the box I feel in love. It is very easy to clean, and has a good whistle on it.However once I started using the kettle my love went to just nice, nothing really special more of a hindrance. Here is why:1. The lid is VERY hard to get off and once you use it a bit of water stays in the top of the lid. So when trying to pull the lid off (because the lid is on to tight) water goes everywhere.2. It is very heavy3. Takes forever to boil the water4. The pour spout is awkward to use, perhaps it should be on the bottom....not the top?It is now just a pretty thing that sits on my stove and the more I use it the more I grit my teeth. I paid a ridicously amount for this kettle so I will unfortunately continue to use and grit my teeth every time I use it. I would return but I paid a ridiculous amount on shipping. But hey it looks nice sitting on the stove. Was going with 3 stars but added 1 because it is pretty.

Kitchen Aid Style D Kettle - Empire Red
Only had this kettle for a few days so can’t speak to the durability but based on first impressions it’s a solid kettle and feels quality made. The handle of the kettle and the cover knob are covered in the same heat resistant plastic. It resists heat nice enough to grab with bare hands. The bottom of the kettle is porcelain enamel but the rest is probably aluminum not sure but not flimsy. It whistles nicely once water boils. This one is 2 quart capacity (1.9 liters). The spout cover cannot be locked open but the button on the handle is perfectly positioned to open the spout when your palm wraps the handle or easily push the button with your thumb. Comes with a limited lifetime warranty and simple booklet for instructions and product registration. Safe for induction cooking and all cooking types. There are cheaper kettles out there and was considering one but decided to go with this one because I like the look of it, it’s simple and it’s well made and I have a few other Kitchen Aid small appliances. I think you’ll be happy with this one and it’s a nice choice, especially if you love the signature Empire Red color. Kitchen Aid, for the way it’s made.

It's a pretty Kettle
This is my second KitchenAid Kettle. The first one lasted for about 10 years. I abused it- seldom emptied it of water. Eventually it rusted- but it took a decade of my abuse to do so. The first one was purchased at Costco for a great price. I bought this one on Amazon so the price wasn't that great. I've decided to take better care of this one and dry it out every night.
