Size:8.8 oz Metal Tin A smoked black tea from the province of Fujian in China. This tea is first withered over pine or cedar wood fires. The leaves are then rolled and fermented, before being dried in bamboo baskets which hang over a pinewood fire.Tradition has it that this tea was created accidentally during the Qing dynasty. Legend has it that villagers were unable to dry their tea harvest due to the presence of an Imperial Chinese army unit. When the soldiers left, a peasant lit a fire under the leaves to speed up the drying process, imparting the characteristically smoky flavor, and creating a whole new way to enjoy tea.

Good strong flavor
I love lapsang souchong, and Kusmi has one of the best.It tastes like a campfire! You either love it or hate it -- but if you do like this taste, you'll be happy with the brand.

She finds this better than the 4 other brands she has tried from ...
This has a much more pronounced smokey flavor with a deeper resonance...well, according to the tea drinker I bought this for. She finds this better than the 4 other brands she has tried from English, to Chinese to Lapsang Souchong cousin: Russian Carvan.

Not the best deal
I am sorry that this is not elegible for Amazon Prime. I bought mine from the Kusmi website, and the price was lower, even with the shipping.Lapsang Souchong is not, so to speak, everybody's cup of tea. The freshly picked tea leaves are dried over a pone fire and pick up the smokey, resin flavor. The most extreme is the Taiwanese Tarry Lapsang Souchong, dried over burning pine resin. That one is hard to find.Kusmi makes excellent teas. The company is French, though the family is Russian. While they are pricey, they are worth it. The quality is excellent.
