I love this thing: super precise hands-free follow focus works perfectly with my kit
Great piece of kit.I'm a timelapse shooter, and I use adapted lenses. The adaptor I use has a variable-ND built-in and, up until I bought this Tilta kit, I've been adjusting that ND by hand. There is always the risk of bumping the camera (it takes a _really_ light touch, and I have to time adjustments perfectly in-between exposures). A blurry bumped frame means a wasted clip.My variable ND adaptor has a standard focussing gear, but it is positioned very close to the camera. My cage + motion control setup (pan-tilt-slide-focus, with lots of cables all over) makes it quite awkward accessing this gear (even by hand), and normal follow-focus units, with their rather bulky mechanisms, wouldn't fit my setup.Enter this Tilta follow focus kit.The actual focus motor unit is really small, it fits just right on my setup and makes a very solid connection with no room for backlash (i get very high precision in all my movements). The auto-calibration function is hugely useful, one button press and then the full range of the hand unit matches the full range of my variable-ND. Nice. Now I can make absolutely tiny movements, and never risk camera shake. I'm very happy. It's expensive, no doubt about that, and I don't use any of the other accessories that come in the rather nice case, but it's been worth it for me.Mine is certainly a use it wasn't originally designed for, but anyone using it for _real_ follow-focus would be very happy with it, imho.

Great, but stupidly small screen.
Great product, very easy to use, good for smaller lenses. The screen however is TINY. I can't read it without a pair of 2x magnification glasses!

Useability
This is the baby version of the m. I am using it mounted to a stand with a monitor for my focus puller. A bit flimsier than the bigger version and the motor is much smaller with no adjustments available. It’s adequate but I think if you have the money get the m.

Great performing wireless follow focus on a budget
Nicely manufactured wireless follow focus system.Only a couple of things of note -It will need to be powered with more than the USB 5v feed on the motor if you are using heavier/tighter focus rings on your lenses. The focus wheel needs to be powered by batteries - the USB port is for updates only. It states that in the manual - so don't build a rig around thinking that you can power the wheel over USB.The transmitter needs to be far enough away for the transmission to be reliable. Don't expect to rig the focus wheel next to the motor and expect it to work. Aim for something like a minimum distance of something like 30cm.Some people don't like the feel of the wooden wheel. I do. Those that dont may want to consider an elastic band around the wheel.

Good but not great
It works fine, when it works. First unit had to be sent back for a replacement because the controller didn't pair with the motor. The use of 14500 batteries was the worst design choice Tilta made as these batteries are hard to find, and you need to have more than 2 for a 8+ hours shoot. Overall it gets the job done.

Professional standard and great quality if powered properly
This works great. I used a Nucleus-M before, and this matches the performance if you give it enough voltage.Depending on the power input, you will get more torque on the motor so it will be able to work even on cinema lenses. I tested it with different sources:- it gets 5V via usb powerbank- it gets 7-8V via Ronin-S (with the cable included in the package)- it gets 15V via D-Tap from a V-Lock batteryThat being said, make sure you buy a MicroUSB to D-Tap power cable, but be careful you pick the right one (the official Tilta cable was too short for me). This is really great value for the money and it made my productions seem a lot more professional.

Best buy ever.
I was kinda sceptical when I was buying this product. But it turned out that Tilta put a lot of thought about the indie filmmaker's needs.Well done. Eventually we see a big company with great professional systems paying attention to indie filmmakers to get familiar with professional techniques, always in budget.

Absolute Junk
Motor burnt up after it couldn't handle even silky smooth modern lenses for less than 9 months of irregular use.14500 cylindrical battery cells are a nightmare to get hold of, and will probably burn your house down while charging coz of NMC cobalt chemistry & poor quality control.Don't even think about the accessories, a micro usb dtap cable will set you back £30 and they brake easily! Mounting brakets for hand wheel are over £45+.Avoid this junk like the plague !!!Save up, get a loan, buy Arri Hi 5
