Meh
I did read it all the way thru, though it took me a while. Constance got on my nerves. Her forwardness was.... not written well. She was annoying. I did have it as an audio book, and the narrator's voice for Constance was truly grating, so that may have contributed to my feeling as though Cinstance was an idiot.BUT with that being said, I did finish it and if it had been truly awful, I would not have. I don't waste my time on badly written books.

PERFECT TORTURED HERO AND PERFECT INNOCENT HEROINE!!
I absolutely loved Sins of a Duke. What a big difference in the characters in this story and book 2. Lady Constance Thonton and her brother Anthony Thorton have been outed too the Ton by the Duke of Mondvale as being bastards and not the legitimate issue of the deceased Duke of Calydon.Lucan Devlin Wynwood the newly minted Duke of Mondvale wants revenge on Lady Constance brother Sebastian the Duke of Calydon. Lucas believes that Sebastian has played a part in his sister suicide. We meet Marissa Wynwood in bk.1 The Dukes Shotgun Wedding. So readers of the series knows some of the history of her death. Lucan's revenge is to compromise Lady Constance and make her feel the despair and rejection of the Ton, as he believes his sister felt. He knows of Sebastian love for his sister and he wants his revenge. Lucan is perfectly written as the tortured hero. I watched him grow from revenge and hatred to forgiveness and love. His courtship of Constance was flawless and romanctic! This is hard to due and I commend the author Stacy Reid for making us feel Lucan's growth. Lady Constance is the perfect heroine. Her character is also, perfectly written and very believable for the Victorian ear. Despite all the rejection from the Ton the only world she had ever know, she presses on.Constance is brave and strong. She is a wonderful young and virtuous and innocent lady. Her innocence is funny at times. Connie as she is called is only 18 and she teaches what the meaning of true love is to Lucan who is 29. Of course they get there HEA, but not before traveling the hard road of forgiveness and redemption. This story is everything you want to read in a the hero and heroine. Deep layers of storyline and perfect development of lead and supporting characters. I am hoping Charlotte gets a story, but I think it will be with Mr. Marcus Stone and I don't usually read stories about mere Misters or lowly Barons and Sirs. So I am hoping Charlotte will be paired with a high loftily titled man. She deserves it. I read Sins of a Duke straight through the night. I just couldn't put it down. I Highly Recommend Sins of a Duke!! Very Well Done!!

GreatbVictorian Romance
Lady Constance Thornton and her brother had some one leak the story that they were bastards. Her mother had them while married to another man.She then turned around and married him 3 months after her husband's death. They did not know after ten years who let it be known.Constance has been brought to London by her mother she is determined to find her a husband. The only person who has asked her to marry him before called off after the news got out.Constance was at a ball and spied Lucan Devlin Wyneood Duke of Mondvale and immediately was attracted to him.Lucan did not know who she was at first they had a dance and kiss in another room of the house. She gave him a fake name.He was already looking for Constance as he had planned to ruin her .He was the one who got the whispers of her birth started. He had a sister that had an affair before and after marriage with Sebastin Constance's brother. She had committed suicide while he was out of the country. He thought a sister destroyed for a sister he blamed Sebastin for it. He had already destroyed his sister's husband.Lucan owned a gambling club.he let her husband gamble till he was ruined..Constance thought he was trying to court her when he took her for rides and picnics and just spending time with her.He feels a little guilty about what he was doing but he had to have his revenge on her brother. The book is so good you have to keep reading is he going to ruin her more than she already has been? Will it be too late when she finds out what he has done can she forgive him or will he walk away.I have read the first book or novella so will read the second one as well . This book does contain sexual scenes so if that is not what you like to read. Please don't buy the book.

Love and Forgiveness are front and center in this lovely tale
I was totally engrossed in Sins of Duke. The characters are complex and the story kept me turning the pages late in the night.Heroine Constance is so wonderful. She is brave, having to face the censure and unkindness of the ton when they discover her antecedents. She is shunned and knows she has little prospects for marriage except for a lukewarm offer from an unremarkable man. That all changes when she meets the very handsome and elusive Lucan, a Duke with some secrets.Lucan wants revenge against Constance’s family and he is not above using her to accomplish his goal. He just never plans on falling in love with her. His journey is filled with discovery about Constance’s kind nature and his own willingness to forgive and move past his own hurt. This is a romantic story. Lucan is a great hero, one who learns that love heals even the deepest wounds. Constance is a bridge builder between people and one who is very loyal, these are two of her finest traits. This is part of a series but I had not read the earlier novel and found this book to be a wonderful stand alone story.

Good story but uneven.
This 3rd novel in the Scandalous series had the potential to be a great one. Stacy Reid is one of my favourite historical romance authors. But when the heroine is barely 18 and the romantic lead in his late 20's, I get all cringy no matter how good the story arch. Not quite underage, but nearly.

Sins of a Duke by Stacy Reid.
A rich duke who runs a gentleman's club wants to get revenge for the death of his beloved sister. He has plenty of female admirers but the one he wants thinks he has an unsavory reputation.

The best of the series so far
This novel is of such vibrant emotion - hatred - revenge - desolation - unforgettable pain - and love. There are points in this story that tear into your soul and the empathy you feel for the Duke and his depths of unforgivness of himself and the others that he was not nearer to his sister when she was going through her trauma. This was a romantic tale that grasped my emotions. Well done.
