Got my company's website to the first page of Google and Yahoo search in less than a month!!
This is not just a book, this is a MUST READ GUIDE, keep with u all the time, study and apply, take it slow and follow instructions, avoid black hat SEO and u should see results with few weeks just be patient, Im not a tech guy by any means, im a doctor/lecturer yet the book was so easy to read and instructions very straight forward, thanks to the author this really helped like magic. Sam.

Potentially helpful for beginners, too much self-promotion, slightly outdated
This book is a decent effort, but could have done with some more editing. If you're a rank beginner to websites and internet marketing of all forms, the book may be helpful to get up and running. There are some decent tips in it about getting indexed by search engines quickly, the top 5-10 directories to submit to (if you have the budget), black hat SEO techniques to avoid, and content marketing ideas that used to work and still work fairly well.Unfortunately, the author felt the need to put a link to his website on almost every other page, making it feel too self-promotional. In fact, by the end of the book, Rognerud just slaps a banner at the end of each chapter and tells readers to visit his site, in addition to calls to action to visit his site throughout the book.Also, the book is outdated, especially for a new edition being published as late as February 2014. Google Website Optimizer is gone, for one. There are a couple of other tools that are also mentioned that have either gone away, been renamed, or have been changed drastically.In summary, feel free to get the book if you're just beginning in internet marketing. If you're looking for a more advanced SEO discussion, get the "Ultimate Guide to Link Building," or "Inbound Marketing and SEO."

Not much useful info for someone beyond the very beginner
If you know much at all about HTML and web design (let's say if you have 1+ years), then you could likely get more out of something else. This is a very basic book and while there are some good tips, it's really only for the very beginners.

Jon Rognerud is a genius!
I met Jon (3000 miles away) on an internet blog last Spring. He was the first person out of a dozen that was able to answer a complicated question I had. This guy is smart! I don't give accolades easily, but this is a well spent $17. Since then, I have followed his examples, and recommendations. As a start-up company (four weeks in) I can not afford to ignore his advice, and trust me…you can't either! The Ultimate Guide to Optimizing Your Website is easy to read (I'm a novice) and implement. Sometimes it's easier to ignore good advice because you can't figure things out. Jon's book encouraged me to keep plugging away, spend the time and get it right the first time. It's worth it in the long run. So far, he's been right. As a sceptic without a lot of capital, I doubled checked with other ad-execs the validity of Jon recommendations, I have yet to find anyone who disagrees with him. I've done the hard work for you. Easy read - good tips
Jon provides an easy to read book in lay mans terms for getting the most out of your website. Even if you are not implementing solutions yourself, the book gives you insight into things you should be doing. Like the references and links to tools!
