Flojet 18555000A Portable Waste Pump
Bought the Flojet 18555000A Portable Waste Pump for my new camper knowing there are times I can't get to my dump station or the clean-out in the back yard .. well over 100 feet ... but I have a bathroom in my garage that's 60 feet ...bought a 3/4 inch 75 foot hose designated for just this purpose ... put it all together my self and hooked it up ..worked like a charm for about 3-4 minutes ... all of a sudden it quit ... thought it was my connections were bad so I redid the splices just to be sure ... still not working ..so I checked the fuse in the handle .. ok changed the fuse ..instant blow ..humm ok new fuse ..again blowing all my fuses ..humm.. take everything apart ..what a mess cleaned and flushed with bleach ... looked in the end of the pump and who would of guessed .. a screw caught behind the blade .. boy was I mad .. first time the camper had been used and emptied .. apparently someone dropped or left a long screw in the holding tank and when the pump caught it it blew the fuse .. so the fuse in the handle works like it's suppose to ..lol ... got the screw out and hooked everything back up and it worked like a champ ... didn't leak ... real good flush capacity ... I flushed the tank 3-4 times to be sure .. worked great ..bought the clear hydroflush to use with the pump .. it leaked at the flush valve so I used the one on the pump .. . you can read my review of the hydroflush .. the connections were easy to splice but had to go get # 10 wire .. I was 2 feet short with the wire that comes with it to hook it to my battery on the front of the 24' work and play camper ...using alligator clips for now just the check it out but think I'm going to change them to rings for a more permanent connection to the battery ..it comes with a quick disconnect for the handle on and off switch ... and an antiphon valve for the water hose ...I can't say about longevity yet ...only used it once so far ... felt the motor while it was flushing 3-4 times 40 gal tanks ..and it didn't seem to over heat just slightly warm at the last flush ... and boy it works fast to empty the tank .. Was worried about what was going on at the other end since it's just me ... so I paused the pump to check the other end of the hose didn't want to find a mess at the other end .. but no problem ...I put the hose between the seat and bowl ..closed the lid and placed a flower pot on the lid to keep it in place ..lol .. worked like a charm .. loving this pump !

Fast and easy - exactly what I wanted
There were three reasons that I bought this pump:1) Avoid the dump station at the campgrounds which I've waited in an hour long line before2) Thoroughly clean the tanks at home where no one is waiting for me3) Empty the tanks without moving the camper while campingI've been able to use the pump successfully for #1 and #2 and I plan on getting a tank to achieve goal #3.Pros:- The pump is FAST. I can empty both my gray and black tanks totaling around 70 gallons in less than 5 minutes.- It pumps easily through a 50' long 5/8" hose up about 4 feet to a toilet just inside the house from my garage- It's reasonably quiet while pumping and makes quite a bit more noise when the tank is empty making it easy to determine while it's finished pumping- The flusher connection is very convenient for filling and flushing the tanks repeatedly.- The push button on/off switch seems to be very high quality.- The pump forms a very solid seal with the sewer hookup on the camper and doesn't leak whatsoever.- It comes with an extra o-ring in case the one included on the pump wears out or is lost.Cons:- The wiring harness needs to be assembled and doesn't come with any clamps or hook-ups. I bought some 30A alligator clips (from Amazon) and 100' of 12A wire (from eBay) and soldered them to the connections that come with the pump. This was easy enough for me but I'd imagine someone that doesn't have familiarity with electrical connections might find it annoying. Make sure that you get at least 12 gauge wire since this pump pulls a lot of current. The first time I used it, I had some 16 gauge wire laying around that I used and it ended up melting the wire near the inline fuse. Once all of this was assembled, I'm able to connect the pump to the battery on the camper and everything works great.

Convenient and easy to use
I just finished using my new Flojet Pump to drain my RV tanks at my house for the first time. Overall, I thought it worked very well and I'm happy with my purchase. It is definitely convenient to be able to empty the tanks at the house, since the nearest dump station is pretty far and costs $10 every time.I'll pass on a few things I learned just in case it helps anyone else. First, as far as the wiring goes, I thought the hookup was fairly easy. Just make sure you have some sort of crimping tool on hand so you can make the proper connections. Also, several people have complained about the length of the power cord, but I found jumper cables to be a pretty simple solution. Since my house and chassis batteries are on the same side as my water bay, I was able to run a regular jumper cable from those batteries and clamp it onto the end of the pump's power cord, and it worked perfectly.I used a 75 foot 3/4" hose to drain, and it seemed to work smoothly, even going up a slight incline. I did make one mistake that I'll pass on. Be sure your tank valves are open when you turn on the hose going into the rinse valve. I failed to do this, and the water pressure immediately caused my sewer elbow adapter to pop apart and water spilled all over the street. Luckily, I had already drained the tanks and was in the rinsing phase, so it was clean water that spilled. I suppose that could have turned out quite nasty, so learn from my mistake! The macerator blade seemed to handle everything well with no issues. It obviously takes longer to drain tanks than the traditional 3" hose, but the convenience of doing it at home, and not having to mess with smelly sewer hoses makes this product well worthwhile, in my opinion.
