Great base camp tent
Rock solid in all conditions. Great base camp tent. I've used many wall tents in the past, and they do have their advantages over the spring bar design, especially for extended hunting trips where a tent stove is more economical than a propane heater. However, the other 99% of the time, the Flex-Bow is more than adequate.I've not had any leaks or trouble using this tent. I've used it on hot summer trips during monsoons, and in sub-freezing temperatures above 10,000 feet during deer and elk season. In all conditions it has performed flawlessly. Size to weight can't be beat. The 8-person tent can comfortably accommodate 3 adult males with cots. In a pinch you could squeeze a 4th cot, but door access would be impeded, and living space would be cramped. Some have complained that setting it up was more difficult that they expected. I've not had any problems setting it up alone. This includes setting it up in the snow, rain and wind. Alone it takes me no more than 15 – 20 minutes to setup. That time is almost cut in half with a second person helping. My only complaint is that the awning sags in the middle. Those under 6ft tall won't have an issue. You can see youtube reviews where others have used a painters pole, or similar, to place in the middle of the awning to raise it up. The problem I had with a single pole sticking up into the awning is that it began to stretch the awning fabric. Over time it could possibly begin to poke through the material. My solution was to weld an aluminum frame, supported by a single pole, that can be disassembled and stored in the pole bag . Not everyone will have the tools and the capability, but this has worked well, and has held up in some very adverse weather. Honestly, I don't see why Kodiak hasn't improved on this. The optional vestibule and ground tarp are a must. The added storage space and protection from the elements that the vestibule provides makes this tent even more useful. I do wish Kodiak would have offered a fully enclosed vestibule. It would make using the vestibule more comfortable during windy and cold weather. The ground tarp is more about keeping the underside of the tent floor clean, rather than protecting it from scrapes and tears. Although the added protection certainly doesn't hurt. Mostly, the ground tarp allows you to roll up the tent and put it away immediately without having to wipe the underside clean. A tarp is much easier to hose off when you get home than the underside of the tent.Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Flex-Bow. If Kodiak could make the improvement I've suggested above, it would make it darn near perfect.

Dream tent!
We absolutely LOVE this tent. It's HUGE. So easy to set up too. I do it by myself in about 10 minutes if you count staking it down and putting up the awning. The re-packing design is brilliant. No more trying to stuff the tent into a bag it won't fit in anymore. It's definitely heavy so backpackers this tent is NOT for you. The poles come in a separate bag as well. This is great for families or people who just like to have a lot of room (which is us). We put a Queen Coleman cot/air mattress on one side and our belongings on the other with room to walk around, get dressed, etc. Tent heater works amazing for those cold nights. Ours went through rain and wind last season and it has held up perfectly, no leaks. When it rains, the inside doesn't feel soaked through, just damp. Nothing a tent heater can't help dry up! And it dries super fast. It rained in the morning the day we were leaving a festival and by the time we were ready to pack it up, it was completely dry. The design works so well in the wind, ours barely moved in a pretty windy thunderstorm. Totally worth the money. If you take good care of it, it should last you forever! Kind of wish I had the upgrade with the cabin door and the extra awning which you can enclose but this works perfectly for us!

awesome. though not quite as easy up as they ...
awesome.though not quite as easy up as they show. It's super hard to get that last pole in. I had to call someone stronger than me to get that extra umph. But it is simple and 1ish person can do it. I'm living in it full time so i will update this review as time goes by to let you know how it does this winter and fall.UPDATE - So it's been 2 1/2 mo. and I love this tent! No problems at all with rain and we've had a bit of wind but nothing over 30 mph yet. We have had some good down pours and not a drop inside. Funny when it's raining really hard, if you stand up you can feel the tiniest bit of mist coming through the roof canvas. I love listening to the rain and it really helps you get a good nights sleep. Tent living is calming. Of course I have everything from my bedroom in it, Bed, dresser, desk, computer, etc.The wind will never pick it up, but maybe rip it apart?? I don't know and I will build a protection around it before winter. We'll see just how much I still like when it's cold out. :) Bet the dogs don't stay with me. then.Update - 11-26-2016 - I've been living in this tent since May. (6 mo). Impressive tent! I did tarp the tent for the coastal winter storms. twice the wind has pulled the tarp off but the tent has withstood gusts up to 60 mph so far. Yesterday had fierce winds pulled foot long pegs up and tore off the tarp. It was a deluge of rain pouring all day. the tent was soaked through, but no water inside! you can feel the tent wall on the inside is just soaked but no dripping, no leaking! Kodiak you have done well. And yes I still like living in it. it's getting in the upper 40's (farenheight). The best solution is a heating blanket (and heated mattress pad too for when it really dips into 20's and 30's).Update - it's April 7th 2017. I've been living in this tent 11 months now. Still love it, The tarp over it is toast as it was just trashed for good with some 65 mph wind storm today. The tent has never leaked once. I do see 3 tears in at the base of the tent. One in the corner, 2 on the side in the middle. all 3 at the stake points. Thinking maybe from taking a beating from high winds(?). Looking at replacement tents today. It will be a Kodiak. And yes my dog stayed the whole winter and cat too. :) The heated blankets are the best answer to staying warm yet keeping the electric bill down.
