Holy Bible (Barnes & Noble Omnibus Leatherbound Classics)

I love books especially well presented illustrated books, I fell in love with the illustrations from the artist when I was a child it was only because of this reason I purchased this Bible, but Barnes and Noble have outdone themselves once more, it is absolutely beautiful and is on par with their 1994 edition of the complete works of Shakespeare,

Beautiful edition and extremely good value. The bonded leather cover has a very striking design. The quality of the paper is excellent, as are the black and white illustrations throughout. The size of the print, while not particularly large is just right and comfortable to read. Would recommend this without hesitation. Note: this is a large book. If you are looking for a small, portable bible this is not really suitable. It is perfect for home study.

Bought it because it had the illustrations, I used to see in these books when growing up so it was a bit of a nostalgia trip as I'm no longer religious as such, but not an enemy of the bible and a lover of these type of drawings. So I bought one to give to my brother who still adheres to our religion but also bought one for myself too as I wanted to stay close to these fascinating illustrations. The illustrations by Gustave Dore are worth the book alone and what's so amazing it makes you read the book. You see an illustration and then want to find out a bit more and before you know you've been reading an hour. I don't know if that was the original intention of illustrations, but is so it certainly works for me. What about the book? It's well bound and beautifully finished as all Barnes and Noble books appear to be. I can vouch for that as I bought a few, but it doesn't stop there: the print is just right, the book is big and heavy but it feels right, and the text is just he right size and it doesn't reflect light and leaving the subject aside, it's a pleasure to read the book and an effortless experience. In my experience people who believe want for whatever reason also a nice bible (often they have quite a few already) and you can't go much wrong with this one. It would be a family treasure for years to come, well made and strong with illustrations which draw you in ( as only Gustave Dore could make them - he reminds me of Albrecht Durer) and easy reading text. You won't waste your money.

Incredible value, beautifully bound, fabulous Dore engravings - The illustrations really do make me want to read the stories - and I do not pretend to be a believer. If you like engravings this book is a must. It goes without saying, if you are a believer you will cherish this fine bible with its beautiful King James text. The opening pages include a gift dedication page and pages for family records, weddings etc. It would make a lovely wedding gift.

Bible is truly beautiful and amazing for the price. The drawings throughout add a new dimension and brings the story alive! The binding is stunning and if only all books could look this good. A treasure and I will read this book this year following a reading plan.

Good sized text for reading. Beautifully illustrated. Section at the front to record family relationships, marriages etc. Perfect for personal use and for future generations to enjoy.

Took a while was fearful it wouldn’t arrive but it did ... and its really a great peice to own if your a fan of Doré’s work its a must have....

Beautiful family Bible I will pass down to my son

Praise God !!this is the most beautiful bible i have ever seen . the english is also the most accurate . the time of disposal was beforehand so hats off to amazon . but there is just one thing .. the illustrations or pictures of d'vore in the bible are not accurate . they appear a little saddistic .. a little satanic . search on the man and you will find about him . rest everything is excellent . it has become a treasure for me :)
