I have the whole Monterey Bay collection, and I use them in my science class for teaching about marine animals and their adaptations. These replicas are great! They also make fun toys for kids, but I don't recommend them for young ones (under age 8 or so). These toys are made out of hard plastic. Their fins are pointy. As a result, you will find that kids see them as suitable substitutes for swords and use them in an all-out sibling duel. ;) That leaves the toys looking pretty beat up, and, in my experience, brings on Mom's reproach. You should only buy these for your kids if they are old enough and gentle enough to appreciate them.

Great detailed toy of a whale. More for older kids. VERY heavy. Recommended age is 3+ Do not have it around babies. Again, it is heavy and it’s also larger than I thought. It also doesn’t float in case you wanted it as a bath toy. Son liked it and still looks at it but doesn’t carry it around like his other whale toy.

Glad to have purchased this realistic whale for my toddler. Warning: it is big & heavy. Don't recommend for tots who still like to hurl things at siblings and animals.

This is the most impressive whale or dolphin replica I have ever seen! The kids I teach went nuts over it and so did I when I look at it, first time, every time! It's just great! Big and accurate.

This is a realistic California Gray Whale model. It is heavy and sturdy for older children who will not be rough with it. It would make a nice model or part of a collection for anyone including a classroom display.

My son is very attached to his whale. He's 3, and got it for his birthday on his ocean-cake along with princesses on a sailboat. He loves, loves, loves it and carries it everywhere. It can be a bit rough because it is a hard toy; he sleeps with it at night even still.It's delightful, detailed, and sturdy.
